"Stupid enough": Marcus Trescothick admits India successfully tamed Bazball in Edgbaston Test

The India vs England second Test never seemed to be dipping towards the English side, except for the two sessions Harry Brook and Jamie Smith batted on Day 3. The visitors looked in full control and were favourites in the Edgbaston Test.
India began with a huge 180-run lead from the first innings, which was extended to 244 by the end of play on Day 3. The Indian batters, led by skipper Shubman Gill on another occasion, did a remarkable job to put on a huge target in front of the English side.
Indian batters piled up 427 runs in the second innings as well, and Shubman Gill decided to declare the innings, despite Ravindra Jadeja being set on the crease on 69. India posted a mammoth 608-run target for the England batters.
The England batting unit has reformed in recent times and last time around as well; after Pakistan declared their first innings to England, hoping to win, the English batters posted a mammoth total and eventually won the game.
Hence, nothing seems impossible for this side; however, the Indian bowlers did a good job late on Day 4, clearing off the England top-order.
Assistant Coach Marcus Trescothick keeps a 'draw' in mind ahead of Day 5
Ever since Ben Stokes and appointed head coach Brendon McCullum took over England's test side as the captain-coach duo, they have decided to revolutionize the game standards, introducing scoring quick runs in the red-ball format.
The English batters often batted fearlessly, hitting the ball to different areas of the ground as a glimpse of their entertaining business in the game.
However, this time around at Edgbaston in the second Test against India, England assistant coach Trescothick has a slight change in tone. He suggests that with 7 wickets in hand and 536 needed over a day's play, England will have 'a draw' on their mind.
“We’re always trying to be as positive as we can, but we all appreciate it’s a hell of a lot of runs to try and score,” said the assistant coach, Marcus Trescothick.
“If you get to the point where you can draw the game, of course, we’re not stupid enough to think that you have to just win or lose. There are three results possible in every game that you play," Marcus Trescothick admitted to all three possibilities on Day 5.

Harry Brook insisted on chasing the set target
However, before such claims, England middle-order batter Harry Brook had suggested that England would try and chase whatever target is set in front of them. India has set a target of 608, and 536 are needed to be scored on the last day of play.
Harry Brook's statement never seemed 100% reasonable; however, Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel took the challenge with open arms.
He could also anticipate an exciting day of cricket as England looks to take a further lead in the series, chasing the huge total, and India looks to bowl the opposition out to level the series 1-1.
India vs England Day 5 interrupted due to heavy showers in Birmingham
The India vs. England second Test at Birmingham sees a delay in its proceedings due to heavy showers followed by a wet outfield, as India looks in a commanding position, and the match can go anywhere from here.
Though a victory for England looks tough, it cannot be ruled out; however, a draw or a win in favour of India are the two more likely options under the current scenario. However, England has drawn only a single game in the McCullum-Stokes era.
