Suryakumar Yadav has taken social media by storm with his casual reaction to India's poor start under new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer. A funny moment from a salon has now been a sly dig at Shreyas Iyer by the former captain Suryakumar Yadav.

The Men in Blue are still searching for their first win under Iyer and Suryakumar made his outing to the salon a huge talking point on social media ahead of the second T20I against England on July 4. Cheteshwar Pujara issues bold warning to Shreyas Iyer ahead of England T20I Series.

Sly dig at Shreyas Iyer? Suryakumar Yadav's Salon video goes viral

The funny moment was captured when Suryakumar Yadav visited a salon for a haircut. In a viral video, a fan told the former Indian captain that the team was missing him in the ongoing five-match T20I series in England. The fan said, “Bro, we’re missing you in the series.”

Unexpectedly, the former T20I captain has not shown any disappointment; instead, he smiled and replied that everything is going well.

India's struggle under Iyer

India's new T20I era has not started as expected. After lifting the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 earlier this year, the Men in Blue traveled to the UK under the new captain Shreyas Iyer.

However, India lost both T20Is against Ireland with the hosts completing a historic 2-0 series victory. The first T20I against England also did not produce a result because rain washed out the game in Durham after India's innings.

India had posted 189/7, and Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant knock of 68 runs from 47 balls. He became the first Indian T20I captain to score a fifty on English soil. Amid this, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi unhappy in Manchester nets as Gautam Gambhir faces heat.

Why BCCI removed Suryakumar Yadav as T20I captain despite World Cup triumph

The BCCI made the captaincy change on June 6 by appointing Iyer as India's new T20I captain by naming the squads for the tours of Ireland and England and also for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

Even though Suryakumar Yadav had led India to the T20 World Cup title earlier in the year, his poor form with the bat forced the selectors to make the tough decision. After a poor T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, his struggles continued in IPL 2026, where he managed only 270 runs for the Mumbai Indians at an average of 20.76.

The 35-year-old had not only lost the captaincy, but he was also completely left out of India's T20I squad. The selection committee wanted to begin a fresh chapter with a new captain as part of its long-term plans for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the 2028 T20 World Cup.

Shreyas Iyer's IPL success earns him India's T20I captaincy

Shreyas Iyer earned the captaincy after building an impressive record as a leader in the IPL. He guided Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 title and later took Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final. Earlier, the Mumbaiker had also taken Delhi Capitals to the IPL 2020 final.

He also impressed with the bat in IPL 2026, scoring 498 runs at a strike rate of 168.81, which helped him return to India's T20I side after a long gap. The BCCI has also named Tilak Varma as vice-captain.
