India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has recently made a shocking revelation regarding the stump mic antics. The 34-year-old claimed to stay away from the stump mic as he wants that to remain the specialty of Rohit Sharma.

Suryakumar took over India's T20I captaincy after the retirement of Rohit Sharma from the format in 2024. Along with Rohit, another senior batter Virat Kohli also retired after India's title-winning run in T20 World Cup 2024.

While Suryakumar is India's captain in T20Is, Rohit Sharma is still leading the team in Tests and ODIs. Rohit will lead India in the upcoming Champions Trophy in which Suryakumar didn't find a place.

Suryakumar Yadav speaks on Rohit Sharma's stump mic antics

While speaking on Star Sports, Suryakumar Yadav insisted on staying away from the stump mic as he wants that to remain the specialty of Rohit Sharma. He also referred to Rohit's famous dialogue related to 'garden' in the conversation.

"Try karta hoon door rahoon stumps se. Agar kisi ka woh specialty hai toh won unhe ke sath rahe toh zada better hai (I try to stay away from the stumps. If it's someone's specialty, then it's better that it stays with that person only)," Suryakumar said.

The iconic 'Garden' dialogue has become a trademark of Rohit Sharma. The dialogue became viral during India's five-match home Test series against England in early 2024 when Rohit was scolding his fielders for being too relaxed during a Test match.

"Mai nahi rokta hu kisi ko" - Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav further mentioned that the players get to hear that dialogue a lot when they are actually roaming inside a garden. He also claims not to stop his players as none of his players do such things on the field.

"Haan woh jab hum ghumte rehte hai garden mein, woh sunne ko mil hi jata hai (Yes, when we roam in the garden, we get to hear those things)," Suryakumar said.

"Nahi, mai nahi rokta hu kisi ko kyuki koi ghumta hi nahi hai (I don't stop anyone because no one roams around)," he replied on being asked if he stops any player from being too relaxed.

Suryakumar Yadav's record as India's captain

Suryakumar Yadav has a fantastic record as India's captain in T20Is. The 34-year-old has led India to victory in 14 out of 18 T20Is with a magnificent win percentage of 77.77. He is currently fourth on the list of India's most successful T20I captains after Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli.

Suryakumar was dismissed for a duck in the first T20I of the ongoing series against England and will look to get back amongst the runs in the second match. The right-hander is a crucial part of India's T20I set-up with some excellent numbers.

He has scored 2570 runs in 79 T20Is so far at an average of 40.15 and a strike rate of 167.53. He has struck 4 hundreds and 21 fifties in his T20I career. Currently, he is not a part of India's ODI set-up which is why he wasn't considered for the Champions Trophy.
