Since his back injury, Mayank Yadav has been out of action, working on his recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Now, fully fit and back in action, the 22-year-old pacer is all set to make his international debut in the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh at home.
As India gears up to face Bangladesh in the first T20I at Gwalior on Sunday, October 6, the talks are growing around whether Mayank will be included in the playing XI. However, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has hinted at the young pace gun’s potential debut in Gwalior.
Mayank’s inclusion in the Indian cricket team brings a sense of fresh energy, and Suryakumar has called him an X-factor. The Indian captain expressed his confidence in Mayank’s exceptional talent, as his speed and talent are seen as game-changing assets for Team India’s bowling attack.

Suryakumar Yadav also highlighted the impressive qualities he showcased during franchise cricket and hailed his remarkable pace. Furthermore, Suryakumar said that he hadn’t faced him in the nets due to their training plan, but he acknowledged the potential Mayank possesses and the positive impact he could bring to the team.

Mayank Yadav definitely has the X factor: Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo: “He (Mayank Yadav) definitely has the X factor—it was evident when he played franchise cricket. He has that extra pace. I didn't face him in the nets; our net plan was such that someone else faced him. But I have seen what potential he has and what difference he can make for the team. From that point of view, I feel he is a good addition to the Indian team, and I am hoping he will do well.”
Notably, Mayank was set to make India's debut on the Zimbabwe tour, but the back injury delayed his dreams, but now Suryakumar Yadav’s statement hints at the youngster getting his debut cap in the first T20I against Bangladesh.
With the BCCI closely monitoring his fitness, Mayank’s return to cricket should be handled with caution to maximize his potential with the ball.
