Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav's poor form has been of immense concern for the side in the Asia Cup 2025. After being dismissed against Sri Lanka, the fans have trolled the cricketer for his poor form ever since he took up captaincy for India.

India and Sri Lanka are clashing in the final Super-4 stage game in this Asia Cup. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side has already defeated the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh in the Asia Cup and has advanced to the final alongside Pakistan.

Many have also cited that captaincy might be one of the biggest reasons for SKY's downfall in the shortest format of the game. Before taking up captaincy, since Rohit Sharma's retirement, he was undoubtedly one of the most dominant batters for India.

Suryakumar continues poor form in Asia Cup; 71 runs in 5 matches

The Indian skipper has lost his fine touch in the Asia Cup. He started off well with the game against Pakistan. He scored an unbeaten 47* against Pakistan, but since then, he has scored just 17 runs in the last 3 innings.

With a duck against Pakistan, a 5 against Bangladesh, and a 12-run innings against Sri Lanka, the captain has been facing some criticism. His further criticism has been due to his batting position of No. 3, coming ahead of Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma.

After scoring a run-a-ball 12 runs with just one boundary, he was caught right in front of the wickets off Wanindu Hasaranga's bowling. SKY has now scored just 71 runs in the 5 innings he played for India in the Asia Cup.

Abhishek Sharma now advances in a unique list for India

However, despite SKY's downfall, one player who has been unstoppable in the Indian lineup is opener Abhishek Sharma, who scored his third consecutive half-century in the Asia Cup.

Abhishek Sharma, with another fifty in less than 25 balls, has now equalled the record of Rohit Sharma for most 50+ scores in less than 25 balls and is only behind Suryakumar Yadav, who tops the list with 7 such totals. He has also surpassed his mentor, Yuvraj Singh, in the list.

On the other hand, Sanju Samson, who was sent in at no. 5 against Sri Lanka, played a fine knock of 39 runs off just 23 balls and batted with a strike rate of nearly 170, before being dismissed off another bowling change in the form of Dasun Shanaka.

"From India’s MVP in the format to a non-performing asset, what a downfall for Suryakumar Yadav!" - Fans slam SKY on X
