Suryakumar Yadav is leaving Mumbai Indians (MI) 100% - it was one of the major talking points in the one-hour-long YouTube video shared by RevSportz Hindi. Through the video, it is informed that the long-winding bond between Suryakumar Yadav and Mumbai Indians is about to be broken.
Ahead of the IPL 2027 season, Mumbai Indians remain one of the focal points among cricket fans, as the franchise is likely to release multiple star cricketers, including Yadav and Hardik Pandya. While in the off-season most of the speculations are related to Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar's future with the Mumbai-based franchise is also looking uncertain to carry forward.
Why does Mumbai Indians want to break ties with Suryakumar Yadav?
The experienced batter, who captained the India National Cricket Team to the 2026 T20 World Cup title, is currently going through a rough patch, largely due to his poor batting form. Apart from lifting the T20 World Cup trophy, the ongoing year has not been too brilliant for Suryakumar Yadav. The Mumbai-born's form took a steep dip in the Indian Premier League.
There is a huge difference between his batting numbers in the 2026 Indian Premier League and the 2025 Indian Premier League. In the previous season of the league, in 16 matches and as many innings, the middle-order batter scored 717 runs for a batting average of 65.18 with five half-centuries, while his batting average was 20.76 in IPL 2026. In 13 IPL 2026 matches, the right-hander got only a couple of half-centuries.
Hardik Pandya could join the Kolkata Knight Riders
For the last few seasons, Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful franchises in the league with 5 trophies in their cabinet, were nowhere near the trophy podium. In 2026, they finished 9th in the 10-team league with only 4 wins in 14 matches. The disastrous season made the path clear for the departure of multiple big names from the franchise.
Hardik Pandya, the captain of the team, is all set to switch teams ahead of a fresh season, as is Suryakumar. However, none of the departures are confirmed yet. During the RevSportz Hindi YouTube video, Subhayan Chakrabarty, a journalist, claimed that Suryakumar Yadav is all set to leave the franchise.
Uncertainty over Suryakumar Yadav's IPL career
But where he will join next is not confirmed yet. A trade deal with the Lucknow Super Giants was probably on the cards, but the batter himself is reportedly not interested in going there. Additionally, there was no other confirmed interest from any other franchise either for the India captain.
"Suryakumar Yadav is leaving MI. But immediately, a trade is unlikely to happen as the Kolkata Knight Riders are trying for a Hardik Pandya deal. Suryakumar himself doesn't want to join LSG, as I came to know, and there was no other significant interest from other franchises as well. But one thing is clear: Suryakumar is leaving MI", the journalist claimed.
So, on the basis of the current claims, Suryakumar’s future is uncertain ahead of the IPL 2027 season.
