Suryakumar Yadav takes fresh ‘trophy’ dig as BCCI resolves Asia Cup issue with Mohsin Naqvi

India National Cricket Team skipper Suryakumar Yadav has taken a fresh dig at the Asia Cup 2025 trophy controversy while speaking to reporters in Australia.

Suryakumar Yadav's cheeky dig comes at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is on the verge of resolving the Asia Cup 2025 issue with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi.

Team India won the most recent edition of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under the leadership of the former World No.1 batsman Suryakumar Yadav.

The Men In Blue played a good brand of cricket in the competition, and despite not being at their very best, they easily managed to become the Asia Cup 2025 champions.

India remained unbeaten throughout the competition to clinch the title, and en route to victory, they beat arch-rivals Pakistan in three consecutive matches in the Asia Cup 2025, including the final.

After India humiliated Pakistan three times on the trot, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi wasn't a happy man, and he wanted to do something to get some eyes on him.

Notably, India refused to receive the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi due to India-Pakistan tensions, which led to him fleeing with the trophy from the venue. Since then, he has kept the trophy with him and refused to return it to India despite multiple warnings..

Feels great to finally touch the trophy - Suryakumar Yadav

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav-led India won another trophy by defeating Australia 2-1 in a five-match T20I series. Speaking after the series, Suryakumar Yadav hilariously said that he felt great to touch the trophy.

“It feels great to finally get to touch the trophy. Felt it in my hands, when I was handed over the trophy for the series victory. A few days back another trophy arrived in India our women's team has won the World Cup. That trophy has also arrived back home. It feels great and getting to touching this trophy as well feels good,” Suryakumar said in the post-match press conference.

ICC facilitated a meeting between myself and the PCB chief separately - Devajit Saikia

On the same day Suryakumar Yadav took a dig at the Asia Cup issue, the BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia revealed that he had a meeting with Mohsin Naqvi, and the Asia Cup trophy matter will be resolved in the coming days.

"I was a part of both the informal and formal meeting of the ICC. PCB chairperson Mohsin Naqvi was also present. During the course of a formal meeting, it was not on agenda but ICC facilitated a meeting between myself and the PCB chief separately in the presence of a senior ICC office-bearer and another senior official," Saikia told PTI on Saturday.

"It was really good to start the process of negotiation. Both sides cordially participated in the meeting which took place on the sidelines of the ICC board meet," he added, assuring that a solution will be worked out soon.

"Definitely, in coming times, if things go in a positive way, the issue will be sorted at the earliest," Saikia added.
