Suryakumar Yadav, Venkatesh Iyer Make Huge Gains In Latest ICC Men’s Players Rankings

Indian batters Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer have made huge gains in the recent iteration of the ICC Men’s T20I player rankings. Both batters enjoyed a sensational series against West Indies, which saw the home side complete a 3-0 series win.

Suryakumar Yadav made 34*, 8 and 65 against West Indies in the recently concluded three-match T20I series helping India white-wash the visitors 3-0. His 65 in the third T20I, helped India go from 93/4 in 14 overs to 184/5 in 20 overs, as he added 91 runs in just 37 balls with Venkatesh Iyer.

The right-hander from Mumbai was awarded the Man of the Match and Player of the Series for his efforts. In the first game, India lost three wickets in four overs and needed 65 off 45 when Yadav walked in to bat. Yadav and Iyer came together and took India across the line with more than an over to spare.

Venkatesh Iyer, on the other hand, was amazing with the bat and the ball, playing his role of finisher to the tee, making 24*, 33 and 35* in super quick times. The performances helped Suryakumar Yadav jump 35 spots to No.21 while Iyer made a massive jump of 203 spots to No.115 in the rankings for batters. West Indies’ lone warrior with the bat, Nicholas Pooran, moved five places to No.13.

Australia’s Ashton Agar Broke Into The Top 10 Rankings For Bowlers In T20Is

Apart from the India-West Indies T20I series, the rankings also reflected the update in the aftermath of the Australia- Sri Lanka T20I series, in which the hosts, Australia won 4-1. The biggest gainer from the hosts’ massive series win was spinner Ashton Agar, who broke into the top 10 rankings for bowlers, and currently sits at No.9.

In the last two matches, Agar was miserly with his bowling and returned figures of 1/14 and 1/19. On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana rose in the T20I rankings as well, attaining a career-high rating of 592 after climbing 12 places to No. 17.

Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood’s performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier A saw him break into the top 10 for all-rounders, rising four spots to No.6.

In the Test rankings, the New Zealand bowling duo of Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson moved up a place each to occupy the No.5 and No.3 spot respectively, with the latter attaining a career-high rating of 825.
