Syed Kirmani, a former wicketkeeper for India, thinks Virat Kohli belongs to be in the team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and has the potential to be a game-changer in the tournament this year.

Kirmani reckons that Virat Kohli should be a positive sign in India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

One of Kohli’s toughest phases of his career is currently ongoing. In the just-finished ODI series, the star hitter only scored 12 runs in 2 T20Is and 33 runs in 2 ODIs. For the highly awaited Birmingham Test, Kohli returned from a sabbatical, but the star batsman only scored 31 runs over two innings because his century drought had now lasted more than two years.

For the start of their tour of the West Indies on July 22, India’s ODI and T20I squads would be without Kohli. The ace hitter will miss the three ODIs and five T20 Internationals and is only anticipated to play in the Asia Cup later this year.

‘Virat Kohli has loads of experience’: Syed Kirmani

Syed Kirmani, a former wicketkeeper for India, thinks Kohli belongs to be in the team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

“Virat Kohli has loads of experience. He ought to be chosen for the T20 World Cup team. Kohli will be unstoppable once his form is back. He might change the situation. A player with Kohli’s knowledge and skills ought to be selected for the World Cup team “Kirmani told Dainik Jagran.

“The Indian team faces intense competition. Look, if any other player were going through what Kohli is right now, he would already have been fired from the squad. However, in my opinion, a reputable player ought to be given a second chance “Syed Kirmani clarified.
