Bangladesh has roped in experienced pacer Rubel Hossain in place of the injured Mohammad Saifuddin, who is ruled out from the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 with a back injury. This will be a big blow to the Bangladesh side as Saifuddin has been one of the key bowlers in the Bangladesh bowling setup. He has picked up five wickets across the four games he played in the tournament.
Rubel Hossain is one of the experienced bowlers in the Bangladesh circuit for a long time now, and he has been drafted into the squad from the reserves. The 31-year-old right-arm fast bowler has played 27 tests, 104 ODIs, and 28 T20 internationals so far in his career for Bangladesh, and he has the goods in him to deliver whenever needed.
Mohammad Saifuddin To Return To Bangladesh
Mohammad Saifuddin’s depth of injury will be examined after he returns to Bangladesh, as stated by his media and communications manager of BCB. He added that it would be very difficult for him to return to the tournament, and hence, a replacement was named.
“We will understand the gravity of his injury after he returns back to Bangladesh but since he cannot make a comeback in the tournament we opted for a replacement,” Rabeed Imam, senior manager of media & communications of BCB, told Cricbuzz on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Lose To Sri Lanka In Their First Super 12 Stage Game
Mohammad Naim’s 62 and Mushfiqur Rahim’s unbeaten 57 took Bangladesh to a challenging total of 171 on the board for the loss of 4 wickets in their first innings after being put in to bat. Sri Lanka, in their chase, suffered a lot of hiccups by losing wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 79 for the loss of 4 wickets at the 10th over. Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa created a marvellous partnership, and it was enough for the Sri Lanka side to get off to a win in the end.
Bangladesh’s next game will be against the England side today in an afternoon game at the Sheik Zayed Stadium.
