The debate over who is the greatest Muttiah Muralitharan or Shane Warne has been around since they were playing together. Sri Lankan legend Muralitharan has finally broken his silence on the matter, saying Warne was a better bowler than him and that the Kangaroo legend inspired him a lot.
Former Sri Lankan spinner Muralitharan ended his Test career with 800 wickets, while Warne finished with 708 in the longer format of the game. However, the legendary figure, Warne, died of a suspected heart attack while on holiday in Thailand earlier this year.
We All Miss Shane Warne – Muttiah Muralitharan
Muthiah Muralitharan got emotional while remembering Shane Warne, saying, “We all miss him.”
“I think he was better than me, when I was playing I looked up to him and learnt things from him. We all miss him,” Muralitharan told reporters during the Legends League Cricket 2022 press-conference on Thursday in Kolkata.
Murali feels that the World Cup in Australia is going to be a tough test for the spinners. He feels that the Australian conditions will help leg spinners more than finger spinners.
Batsmen Have To Be Very Careful Against Wanindu Hasaranga – Muttiah Muralitharan
Muralitharan has warned batsmen who are travelling to the T20 World Cup to be careful against Sri Lanka leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.
“He’s a great T20 bowler. Last 2-3 years, he’s done really well. He’s a young guy,” Muralitharan said while talking about Hasaranga.”
“In Australia, definitely the leg spinner will have more chances then finger spinners. He will be a difficult opponent to bat against. You have to be very careful against him.”
The 2022 T20 World Cup will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13 in which 16 teams will play 45 matches.
Muralitharan will play for Manipal Tigers in Legends League. The tournament will be held in Kolkata, Lucknow, Cuttack, Jodhpur and New Delhi.
