T20 World Cup 2024: KL Rahul OUT!! NO Yuzvendra Chahal!! India squad as picked by former Australian

Former Australia cricketer Simon Katich has become the latest to put out his predicted 15-man squad of the team India for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. 

Cricket pundits all around the world, who are currently covering the Indian Premier League 2024 season, are making predictions about India's squad. The likes of Aakash Chopra, Sanjay Manjrekar, Tom Moody, and Murali Vijay among others have already their predicted T20 World Cup squads.

Simon Katich has become the latest to reveal his squad before the Indian selection committee announces the official 15-man line-up.

Simon Katich revealed his predicted squad through a video via official IPL broadcasters Star Sports earlier today. Therein, Katich made some obvious choices and there wasn't anything shocking about his 15-man squad. The Aussie went with a reliable and proven top-order and also labeled his squad as a very well-balanced side.

Simon Katich first named his predicted playing XI of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. He went with the very obvious opening pick of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal with Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav accompanying them at numbers 3 and 4.  

In the middle-order, Simon Katich went with Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant at no. 5 and also kept him as the one to keep the wickets. At number 6 and 7, Katich went with KKR hard hitter Rinku Singh and MI skipper Hardik Pandya, 2 players who are not in the best of forms this IPL season. 

Runs have not come at the type of flow that people would expect from Rinku and Hardik but every Indian fan will hope for them to come back in form at the backend of IPL 2024. The last recognized batsman in the lower middle order, Simon Katich, is another out-of-form all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. 

The CSK all-rounder has experienced a difficult IPL season, especially with the bat. In some of the previous expert squads, Jadeja has not been entrusted with the finisher's role due to his poor strike rate at the international level. 

Katich picks Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh as the bowlers 

In the bowling department, Simon Katich named chinaman Kuldeep Yadav as the only wrist spinner in the playing XI as well as the 15-man squad. There was no place again for Yuzi Chahal as Katich feels that Kuldeep will have a better performance in the USA and West Indies. 

Leading the bowling front will be Jasprit Bumrah and accompanying him in the fast bowling department will be left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh. Just like Chahal, Simon Katich did not pick Mohammed Siraj in his predicted XI as well as squad. 

Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana, Shivam Dube and Mayank Yadav as back-ups for Katich 

Lastly, in the reserves list, Simon Katich picked Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson and CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube as the batting reserves. As for the bowling back-ups, Katich backed LSG's young fast-bowling sensation Mayank Yadav and KKR's Harshit Rana to make it to the 15-man squad.
