T20 World Cup 2024: "Sanju kahan batting karega..." - Sanju Samson drops bombshell statement on his batting position

India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson talked about his batting position for Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He claimed that it's a tricky question but whatever his team demands he will be ready for that.

Sanju Samson's journey from being touted as the unluckiest cricketer to getting selected in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024 has been remarkable. The keeper-batter was one of the two keepers in the team that will be traveling to the USA and the Caribbean in June for the tournament.

Sanju Samson, however, didn't break into the Indian team easily. But he made cut it to the team on the back of solid performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Rajasthan Royals skipper has been in the golden touch this year and is even leading the team.

Sanju Samson is amongst the leading run-getters in the IPL. He has set the stage on fire with his breathtaking performances in the league. The batter has been playing at No.3 in the league but with India's top order being packed, it remains to be seen where will he bat in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Sanju Samson was asked about batting at No.5, replying to which he stated that everyone is thinking about his batting position. But he believes that first winning the IPL is important first and his teammates should focus on that. Speaking on Star Sports, he stated:

"That's a very tricky question. We definitely were thinking about it, everyone is thinking about the batting positions... Sanju kahan batting karega (where will Sanju bat).

"But equally, I feel it is also important for the team that they try to win the IPL. As of now, winning the IPL is more important. The players should focus on that goal only."

In nine matches so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sanju Samson has scored 385 runs to his name at a blistering strike rate of 161.08. Under his leadership, Rajasthan is sitting at the top of the table with eight wins in nine matches.

Pitch Curator congratulates Sanju Samson for getting picked in T20 World Cup 2024

During Rajasthan's practice session, Sanju met the pitch curator and it was a heartfelt gesture, the official congratulated Sanju Samson and said that he was confident that the keeper-batter would win the World Cup for his tea. He gave RR skipper blessings and stated: 

"Play for the country. You do that with your bat and you guys are gonna come back with a big bang. You'll always have my support and my blessings till my time. I'm so happy. You'll do it. You'll win this trophy and you'll definitely do it very well."

Sanju Samson will be next seen in action when Rajasthan Royals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game. The match will be played on Thursday (2nd May).
