Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Ireland are unhappy with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the traveling arrangements in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. As per the reports in Newswire, it is learned that have lodged an official complaint to the governing body about the same.
As per the reports Sri Lanka and Ireland faced trouble during the game between them, which was a warmup game and took place at Lauderhill, Florida. It is learned that both teams had to wait for seven hours without any updates from the ICC regarding their flight to New York.
Both the teams were involved in a warmup game against each other and were exhausted after playing and after that travel delay didn’t help either. The delay made teams reach New York on Saturday morning, instead of Friday evening.
This made the Sri Lanka team cancel their training session as well ahead of their first game in the T20 World Cup 2024. Things didn’t stop there for the Island nation as they were then placed in a hotel that was one and a half hours away from the training facilities.
Sri Lanka have expressed their displeasure over the same as well because the Indian team are staying in the luxury hotel just beside the training grounds. The Rohit Sharma-led side also won’t be traveling much in the T20 World Cup 2024 as they will be playing three out of their four group matches in New York.
Sri Lanka on the other hand all four of their matches in different venues. Their first three games of the tournament will be played in America and after that for the last fixture, they will be moving to the Caribbean. Therefore apart from the matches, they also will have to cope with consistent travel.
