The International Cricket Council (ICC) is scheduled to host the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka following the recently concluded Women's World Cup 2025. Notably, the upcoming T20 tournament will take place in Tier-1 venues after using lesser-known grounds for the Women’s World Cup in India.

The marquee tournament will take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. A total of 20 teams will compete for the title for the second straight edition. Team India, who claimed the 2024 title with a seven-wicket win over South Africa in the final, will now look to defend their crown on home soil.

Wankhede and Narendra Modi Stadium to Host T20 World Cup 2026 Knockout Matches

Colombo will host a semi-final in the T20 World Cup only if either Sri Lanka or Pakistan qualify for the last four. The venue will remain a backup option should Pakistan advance to the final.

India last hosted a major ICC men’s event in 2023, when the ODI World Cup was played across nine cities: Dharamsala, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

It has been reported that Mumbai could stage one of the semi-finals, while the final may take place in Ahmedabad on March 8. If Pakistan reach the semi-finals, they will be assigned to Colombo.

Under the current ICC rights cycle, India and Pakistan have agreed to face each other only at neutral venues in multi-nation tournaments. The full schedule for the 2026 T20 World Cup is expected to be released soon.
