Tamil Nadu Cricket Association announced its squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season, with the experienced spinner Sai Kishore as their captain. The first match of their upcoming Ranji Trophy season will be against Rajasthan.
Against Rajasthan, Kishore will lead the side with his deputy, Andre Siddart, who is one of the highly talented young batters in the state. The announcement of the squad and the leadership role was made on the evening of September 21.
Sai Kishore has been named as the Tamil Nadu cricket team captain.
Sai Kishore has been named as the captain of the state cricket team after his successful County Championship with the England cricket team, Gloucestershire. For Gloucestershire, the Indian spinner took 19 wickets in only 5 matches. Against a Derbyshire match in Bristol, Kishore clinched 5 wickets in the second innings to go with his 2-wicket first innings spell.
The Tamil Nadu cricket governing body tried to make a well-balanced side by putting a bunch of young players with multiple seasoned campaigners.
Baba Indrajith, Narayan Jagadeesan, and Pradosh Ranjan Paul will have to take extra responsibility to carry on the side and to help the skipper Sai Kishore in the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy. Alongside the main squad, the state revealed the names of the emerging talents who are kept as standbys, as they are currently under a development process.
Tamil Nadu conducts a special camp ahead of Ranji Trophy 2026-27
Before announcing the full squad for the Ranji Trophy season, the Tamil Nadu cricket governing association released a long list of players for the upcoming domestic tournaments, including the Ranji Trophy. To get a good result from the next season, they organised a special cricket training camp, mostly keeping an eye on the prestigious Ranji Trophy.

According to the previously released press release by the state cricket governing body, September 3 to 25 was mentioned as the time frame for the camp in Chennai. Four days before the last day of the scheduled camp, they announced the squad.
Sai Sudharshan to miss the Rajasthan match
In the latter part of the tournament, there could be some changes in the main squad. Sai Sudharshan is set to miss the match against Rajasthan as he will have to play for the India A cricket team. The India A vs Australia A series will begin tomorrow through an unofficial Test match in Puducherry.
Appointing Sai Kishore as the captain is a major step by the state body; it will help the bowler to boost his morale. He is among the performers who have great numbers in domestic cricket, but has remained out of the India national cricket team for a long time.
