Tamim Iqbal health update: BCB makes colossal revelation after cricketer suffers heart attack

In what is a positive development, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has regained consciousness after he faced a heart attack while playing in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury revealed that the batter is doing fine.
Debashish Chowdhury said that Tamim Iqbal talked to his family and physicians. The former captain of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team will be under observation for 48 hours. The chief physician of BCB also mentioned that the first 24 hours will be crucial.
Tamim had blockage in one of the arteries of his heart
While leading Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League, Tamim Iqbal felt pain in his chest. He didn't look in good shape and was immediately rushed to the hospital for further evaluation.
It was learned that Tamim Iqbal had a blockage in one of the arteries of his heart. The left-hander then underwent a successful angiogram procedure and then, following that, regained consciousness. But it will take some time for him to regain his full fitness.

The block was removed under the supervision of cardiologist Moniruzzaman Maruf at Fazilatunnessa Hospital. A stent has also been placed. Hence, the first 24 hours will be extremely crucial.
As Tamim Iqbal faced a massive heart attack, board directors rushed to the hospital. Also, former colleagues of the national cricket team Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and spinner Taijul Islam came to the hospital to see the former national team opener.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed also talked about the situation of Tamim, saying that they are very thankful to all the medics and specialists for their immediate action. He highlighted how concern in the entire country shows how much he is loved.
President Faruque Ahmed also added that BCB is closely monitoring his health and is in continuous touch with the hospital's medical team. He added:
"We are very thankful to all the medics and specialists for their swift actions in this critical situation," BCB President Faruque Ahmed said. "The outpouring of concern for Tamim reflects how much he is loved and appreciated by the nation.
"The BCB is closely monitoring his health and continues to remain in contact with the hospital's medical team. The board is committed to providing every support and assistance to ensure Tamim's swift recovery."
Tamim announced his retirement from international cricket in January this year. He played 70 Tests and 243 ODIs, scoring 5,134 runs and 8,357 runs respectively for Bangladesh. He has also accumulated 1,758 runs in 78 T20Is.
