After slamming Pakistan’s so-called one of the most fearsome bowling attacks in the world, former fast bowler Tanveer Ahmed has brutally slammed Shan Masood for his poor captaincy in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan cricket team had a really good start to the opening Test of the ongoing two-match Test series, declaring their first innings at 448/6 against the Bangladesh cricket team in Rawalpindi. Saud Shakeel (141) and Mohammad Rizwan (171*) were the stars for Pakistan in the first innings.

However, things turned out miserable for the hosts when the Tigers came out to bat in their first innings at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where the pitch is expected to offer good pace and bounce. So, Shan Masood opted for all-pace bowlers for the first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

But the pitch in Rawalpindi surprised Pakistan bowlers, offering little assistance. Since the pitch was unpredictable, Pakistani pacers Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Ali struggled to challenge the Bangladesh batters and went on to post mammoth 565 runs on the board, taking a 117-run lead in the ongoing first Test in Rawalpindi.

After expressing his frustration with the performance of Pakistan’s pace attack, Tanveer has now launched a scathing attack on the captain, Masood, slammed his meager captaincy and put his team in danger with his decision to pick an all-pace bowling attack.

Shan Masood's captaincy has been really bad: Ahmed

Taking to his social media handle X, Ahmed has expressed his wonder that everyone is busy slamming Pakistani pacers but forgets to share opinions on Masood's poor captaincy. He believes that the Pakistan Test captain’s leadership in Bangladesh’s innings in Rawalpindi.

Tanveer Ahmed posted on X: “Yaar, what am I hearing? Everyone on social media is saying that Pakistan's performance has been poor and that the bowlers have delivered really third-class bowling. But why haven't I heard anyone say yet that Shan Masood's captaincy has been really bad?”

Earlier, Ahmed posted on X: “Naseem Shah is 21 years old. Shaheen Afridi is 24 years old. Khurram Shazhad is 24 years old. Aesa lagta ha 35 years kay fast bowler's lag rahe hain. (They look like 35-year-old pacers.”

Meanwhile, Naseem has recently lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the new head curator, Tony Hemming, for preparing such a pitch for the game. The young pace sensation said that the pitches have been overly batsman-friendly, providing little assistance to the bowlers.

They tried their best to make the pitch helpful for bowlers: Naseem Shah

Naseem said at the post-day press conference: “I think we've had plenty of series now where we've had such (home) pitches. I think they tried their best to make the pitch helpful for bowlers, but maybe due to heat only with the new ball, it was helpful, and after that, conditions settled down.”

He added, “We must leverage our home advantage by tailoring pitches that suit us. If we can't prepare a green pitch, we can try a spin-friendly track—but we should always entertain the fans.”
