However, his back foot brushed the stumps, dislodging the bails and ending Bangladesh’s innings in bizarre fashion. The unexpected dismissal left Taskin bewildered as the West Indies players broke into celebration.

With that wicket, the visitors sealed a 16-run victory, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series following their earlier defeat in the ODIs.

We Bowled Really Well Whole Match Except for... - Litton Das

Bangladesh captain Litton Das admitted that his team missed opportunities and failed to execute their plans during the final overs. He mentioned that early wickets could have turned the game in Bangladesh’s favor on a slow surface. Litton also noted that his side bowled well for most of the match.

“They batted really well in the first 10 overs. The wicket was on the slower side and if we had taken early wickets, they would have been under pressure,” Litton Das said after the match.

"We needed to execute our slog overs a bit better and that is the main thing we will focus going into the next game. The way Shamim batted was a bit disappointing, he needed to take responsibility at that stage. We bowled really well whole match except for the last over. They (West Indies) took some really good catches as well," he added.

West Indies Outclass Bangladesh by 16 Runs to Take 1-0 Lead in T20I Series

After opting to bat first, the Windies posted a total of 165 for 3 in 20 overs. Openers Alick Athanaze and Brandon King added 59 runs for the first wicket before Rishad Hossain broke the stand. Taskin Ahmed struck twice in one over to remove King and Sherfane Rutherford.

Skipper Shai Hope (46*) and Rovman Powell (44*) steadied the innings, with Powell smashing three consecutive sixes in the final over.

In reply, Bangladesh began positively with Tanzid Hasan’s aggressive start, but Jayden Seales struck early to trigger a collapse. The hosts slipped to 42 for 4 by the end of the powerplay.

Tanzim Sakib and Nasum Ahmed added 40 runs off 23 balls for the seventh wicket. Jason Holder and Seales took three wickets apiece as Bangladesh were bowled out for 149 runs.
