T20I cricket is one of the most thrilling and exciting forms for fans. Since T20I games only consist of 20 overs per side, matches often witness quickfire knocks and more numbers of fours and sixes that thrills viewers and spectators to the next level. Since it is also less time-consuming, T20I cricket enjoys a huge fan following by cricket fans all over the world.
Since there are only 120 deliveries of play in one innings during a T20I match, hitting a century in a match is a tough task. Therefore, if a batsman hit a century in a T20I game, it is considered a big achievement.
So far, players from many countries have managed to smash a ton in T20 internationals. The shortest form of cricket has observed many tons in international cricket. Currently, Aussie skipper Aaron Finch holds the record of highest T20I knock which is 172 runs.
All the major cricket-playing countries have witnessed at least one of its players hitting a T20I century. However, these top cricket-playing nations have only witnessed 40 T20I centuries so far. In this listicle, we take a look at team-wise centuries scored in T20I cricket.
Team Wise Centuries Scored In T20I Cricket
Bangladesh- 1
Bangladesh team has witnessed only 1 century in T20I cricket so far. Tamim Iqbal is the only Bangladesh player to hit a century in T20Is. The left-handed batsman smashed a century in a match against Oman in March 2016.
In the encounter during ICC T20I World Cup 2016 against Oman, the 32-year-old batsman smashed an unbeaten 103 runs off just 63 balls. Bangladesh reached a total of 180/2 batting first in the match and also defeated Oman by 54 runs in the match by the DLS method.

Sri Lanka- 2
Sri Lanka has witnessed two of its players smacking one century each in T20I cricket. For Sri Lanka, former cricketers Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene are the two batsmen who have managed to smash a century in T20Is.
Right-handed batsman Dilshan smashed a not-out knock of 104 in 57 balls in a match against Australia in August 2011. Jayawardene hit 100 runs off 64 deliveries in a match against Zimbabwe in May 2010. So far, only these two cricketers have managed to hit a T20I century for the Asian team Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan-2
Afghanistan accounts for 2 centuries in T20I cricket. Afghanistan team has also seen two of its batsmen hitting a hundred in T20I cricket. For Afghanistan, Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad are the two players to smash a T20I ton.
Left-handed batsman Zazai smacked an unbeaten 162-run knock against Ireland in February 2019. He took just 62 balls for his knock. Right-handed batsman Shahzad shattered unbeaten 118 runs off 67 balls against Zimbabwe in a match played in January 2016.

England- 2
England accounts for 2 centuries in the shortest format of the game. For England, only two players have managed to hit centuries in T20I cricket. Alex Hales and Dawid Malan are the two English batsmen who have smashed one century each in T20Is.
Right-handed batsman Alex Hales smacked an unbeaten 116-run knock-off 64 balls against Sri Lanka in Match 2014, becoming the first England batsman to smash a century in T20Is. Left-handed batsman Malan played a knock of unbeaten 103 runs in November 2019 in a T20I encounter against New Zealand.

Pakistan- 3
Pakistan has witnessed three T20I centuries as three different players have managed to hit a ton each in T20I cricket. Babar Azam, Ahmed Shahzad, and Mohammad Rizwan are the three Pakistan players to score a century in T20 internationals.
The right-handed batsman and Pakistan’s current skipper Babar Azam smashed a 122 run-knock off 59 balls in a match against South Africa in April 2021.
Another right-handed batsman Shahzad accounted for an unbeaten 111-run knock-off 62 balls in a match against Bangladesh in March 2014. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammed Rizwan smashed unbeaten 104 runs off 64 balls in a match against South Africa in February 2021.

West Indies- 4
West Indies accounts for 4 centuries in T20I cricket. For 2016 T20I World Cup champions West Indies, Evin Lewis, and Chris Gayle are the two batsmen to smack a hundred in T20Is.
Both the openers have smashed 2 centuries each. Left-handed batsman Evin Lewis has hit both of his T20I centuries against India. The 29-year-old player smashed 100 runs against India in August 2016. In another T20I encounter against India in July 2017, Lewis smashed unbeaten 125 runs.
Talking about Chris Gayle, the left-handed batsman became the first batsman to smash a century in the shortest format with a 117-run knock against South Africa during ICC T20 World Cup 2017.
His 2nd century arrived in March 2016, which was an unbeaten 100-run knock against England in ICC T20 World Cup 2016.

South Africa- 4
South Africa cricket team also accounts for 4 centuries in T20I cricket. For South Africa, 4 different batsmen have smashed one T20I century each. They are Faf du Plessis, Richard Levi, Morne van Wyk, and David Miller. Right-handed batsman Plessis once scored 119 runs in a match against West Indies in January 2015.
Richard Levi, another right-handed batsman, smashed unbeaten 117 runs in an encounter against New Zealand in February 2012. Wicket-keeper Van Wyk played a not-out inning of 114 in a match against West Indies in January 2015. Left-handed batsman David Miller shattered a ton in a T20I game against Bangladesh in October 2017.

Australia-7
Australian cricket team accounts for 7 centuries in T20I cricket. Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell, Shane Watson, and David Warner are the 4 Aussie players to achieve the feat in T20Is. Current Australia limited-overs captain Finch has two centuries- a 172-run knock of 76 balls against Zimbabwe in July 2018 and an innings of 156 runs off 63 deliveries in a match against England in August 2013.
Glenn Maxwell accounts for three centuries in T20I cricket. The right-handed batsman smashed unbeaten 145 against Sri Lanka in September 2016, unbeaten 113 against India in February 2019, and unbeaten 103 runs against England in February 2018.
All-rounder Shane Watson smashed a 124-unbeaten knock against India in January 2016. Left-handed batsman David Warner hit unbeaten 100 runs in an encounter against Sri Lanka in October 2019.

India- 7
Like Australia, India also records for 7 centuries in T20I cricket so far. Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Suresh Raina are the only three Indian players to score a ton in T20Is.
Rohit Sharma has smashed 4 centuries in T20Is- a 118-run knock against Sri Lanka in December 2017, a 111 not-out against West Indies in November 2018, 160 runs in a match against South Africa in October 2015, and unbeaten 100 runs in an encounter against England in July 2018.
Right-handed batsman KL Rahul has smashed 2 centuries in T20Is. He scored unbeaten 110 runs in a match against West Indies in August 2016. He scored another unbeaten 101 runs against South Africa in July 2018.
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina accounts for one century in T20I cricket. The left-handed batsman smacked 101 runs in a match against South Africa in May 2010, becoming India’s first player to hit a T20I century.

New Zealand- 8
The New Zealand team accounts for the most number of centuries in T20I cricket with 8. Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, Glenn Phillips, and Martin Guptill are the 4 Kiwi players to shatter a T20I century.
Left-handed batsman Colin Munro accounts for 3 T20I centuries- an unbeaten 109 runs against India in November 2017, 104 runs against West Indies in January 2018, and also a 101 run-knock against Bangladesh in January 2017.
Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum smashed 2 tons in T20Is. The right-handed batsman shattered 123 runs off 58 balls in a match against Bangladesh in September 2012. McCullum???s other century was an unbeaten 116-run knock against Australia in February 2010.
Right-handed batsman Martin Guptill has also smashed 2 T20I centuries- 105 runs against Australia in February 2018 and unbeaten 101 runs against South Africa in December 2012. Wicket-keeper batsman Glenn Phillips accounts for a hundred in T20I cricket when he smashed 108 runs in a match against West Indies in November 2020.
