Former pacer Zaheer Khan lauded Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav for his magnificent century during the third T20I against South Africa. Zaheer said that Suryakumar poses a formidable challenge for bowlers in T20 cricket due to his versatile shot-making ability.
Suryakumar Yadav scored 100 runs off 56 balls in the third T20I in Johannesburg, guiding India to a total of 201/7. The batter was named Player of the Match for his explosive century. The visitors registered a commanding 106-run victory, leveling the three-match series 1-1.
Suryakumar Yadav Is Building A Reputation – Zaheer Khan
Zaheer Khan emphasized Suryakumar Yadav‘s proficiency in striking the ball across various areas and capitalizing on field restrictions. He pointed out that it becomes challenging for bowlers to stop Suryakumar when he is in good form.
“He is building a reputation for himself and there is no doubt about that. He has got shot-making ability all across the ground and that makes it very difficult for bowlers. When you are able to hit one side of the pitch, then as a bowler you always have a chance in this format with the field restrictions,” Zaheer was quoted as saying on Crizbuzz.
“But when you have a batter like Surya, who can hit the ball to long on, midwicket, hit sixes over covers and uses the pace by opening the face of the bat nicely, it’s tough for bowlers. He picks his fielders, picks his spots and once he is on song and that kind of a zone, it’s never going to be easy for bowlers to execute their plans,” he added.
That’s One Way Of Stopping Him – Zaheer Khan
Zaheer Khan emphasized that the most effective strategy for bowlers to stop Suryakumar Yadav’s performance is to focus on getting him out by delivering well-executed deliveries.
“You just going to give yourself the best chance to bowl the deliveries and get him out, that’s one way of stopping him. That’s what eventually happened,” Zaheer further added.
The 33-year-old will not be part of the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, which is scheduled to commence on Sunday, December 17. He is also not included in the two-match Test series of the ongoing tour.
