However, Matthew Wade’s efforts could not halt Oval Invincibles from winning the match. In the last set (last 5 deliveries), Oval Invincibles needed 15 runs to win, Sunil Narine shattered a six and four to steal victory for his team by 3 wickets.
Matthew Wade’s efforts in the match were highly appreciable. The left-handed batter also slammed 37 runs off 27 balls in the 1st innings with 4 boundaries. Earlier, openers Daniel Lawrence (24) and Adam Rossington (39) slammed decent knocks to provide a good start to London Spirits.
However, other than Wade, the rest of the batters in the middle and lower order got out for single digits. Losing key batters like Michael Pepper (4), Daryl Mitchell (5), and Ravi Bopara (5) for single digits, London Spirit could only pile up 131-10 batting first.
Sunil Narine Led Oval Invincibles To Victory By 3 Wickets
Later, Sam Curran (34), Sam Billing (25), and Sunil Narine (13 off 5) helped Oval Invincibles to seal victory by 3 wickets. They won the match on the penultimate ball when Narine scored the final two runs with his bat.
Other than his blistering cameo of 13 off 5, Narine also hunted 2 wickets in the first innings. Bowling 20 deliveries, he conceded just 20 runs. For his amazing show with both bat and ball, the West Indies spinner won the Player of the Match award.
