The Uttarakhand Government Will Honor Bus Driver Sushil Kumar Mann On Republic Day For Rescuing Rishabh Pant

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant met with an accident when his Mercedes coupe crashed into a road divider. The 25-year-old was alone in the car and suffered injuries to his back, forehead, and leg. His intention was to surprise his mother before the new year ended in a terrible accident.

Driver and conductor Sushil and Paranjeet Nain reached the spot and rescued the wicket-keeper batter. The Uttarakhand government will honour Sushil Mann on Republic Day, which will be celebrated across the country on January 26.

The accident occurred on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, and the car took three or four spins after hitting the divider. Pant was being rescued while lying inside his car with bruises all over his body. The southpaw is currently getting treatment at Dehradun’s Max Hospital, and his health is stable. There is also a possibility he would be airlifted to the national capital, Delhi, for further treatment.

Sushil was at the spot and came to the Indian cricketer’s rescue. He told the media, “When we reached the car, sparks were rising but it had not yet caught fire.”

“We pulled out the man from the car, laid him down and ran back to the car to see if there were others inside. I saw no one. When we ran back to the man… we saw his limbs moving. When we went closer, he said I am a cricketer, I am Pant. I had not heard of him but the conductor told me he was a big cricketer,” he added.

According to an AIIMS report, Pant will require three to six months to regain full fitness. He was recently left out of India’s ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
