Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt is mighty impressed with Indian seamer Mohammed Siraj. Mohammed Siraj made his Test debut against Australia last year and played an integral role in India’s series win that year and has been one of the most improved bowlers today. Salman Butt considered his performances in the first Test against England, claiming he hardly looks like a newcomer.

Mohammed Siraj got the nod along with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Shardul Thakur for the Nottingham Test against England. The 27-year old picked up three wickets, including two in the second innings and bowled aggressively throughout the Test. But both teams could not have a shot at victory as persistent rains washed out the fifth day.

Salman Butt underlined that Mohammed Siraj might be relatively inexperienced at the Test level; however, he has featured in plenty of first-class matches and A tours. Hence, the former Pakistan opener pointed out that Siraj looks like a seasoned pacer in Tests.

“Mohammed Siraj may be relatively inexperienced at the Test level but he has played a lot of first-class cricket and has been on A tours as well. The way he bowls, it doesn’t seem like he is a newcomer in Test cricket,” Butt told in his Youtube channel.

Salman Butt highlighted that Mohammed Siraj knows what lines to stick to and possesses pace as a youngster. The 36-year old feels the right-arm seamer has utilized his height and delivered bouncers to challenge the batsman well. Furthermore, Butt suggested he provides wickets to the Indian team without giving too many freebies.

“He knows what lines to bowl. He is young and has pace as well. The exuberance of youth can be seen when he runs into bowl. Siraj has challenged the batsmen, bent his back and bowled bouncers. He is tall and strong. Siraj is definitely a brilliant future prospect. He is providing the team with wickets and not giving away too much,” he added.
