Fans on Twitter reacted after Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul failed to finish the innings on high in the ongoing game against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025. The match between the two teams is taking place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (5th April).
KL Rahul yet again had a different role to play in the ongoing game against Chennai Super Kings and he made sure that he delivered in that as well. The batter, who originally was allocated the middle-over role, was asked to open the innings today.
KL Rahul failed to finish the innings on high
This was because Faf du Plessis didn't play and he was promoted up the order. KL Rahul started the innings pretty well and played some magnificent shots in his innings. He took Delhi Capitals off to a decent start and with the way he was batting, he looked all set for a big knock.
Even though Delhi Capitals kept losing wickets at regular intervals, KL Rahul made sure he kept the run flow on and helped his team get crucial runs in the middle overs. The keeper-batter brought his fifty in just 33 balls and it was expected that he would then unleash himself.
However, that wasn't the case as KL Rahul failed to finish the innings on high. The batter got a bit slow after that, as he couldn't hit the ball. His getting slow in the end was one of the major reasons why Delhi Capitals couldn't go past 200 runs on the board, which at one stage looked a real possibility.
KL Rahul ended with an innings of 77 runs off 51 balls
KL Rahul ended with an innings of 77 runs off 51 balls before he got out in the last over. The right-hander batted with a strike rate of just over 150 and also slammed 6 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. This was also his maiden fifty for Delhi Capitals in the league.
Apart from him, Abishek Porel (33), Axar Patel (21), Sameer Rizvi (20), and Tristan Stubbs (24*) played vital hands. Thanks to their collective effort with the bat, Delhi Capitals posted a total of 183 runs on the board against Chennai Super Kings.

I think delhi management told him to play an anchor role
But i am telling you
Ruturaj gaikwad is going to chase it easily
It isn't 183 pitch
KL Rahul played bit slow.

It seems DC is at least 30-40 runs short. #CSKvDC
Intensional drop from Mukesh. Rahul has scored only 9 runs in his last 10 balls. Ashutosh would have taken the score to 190-195 in the remaining balls for sure.

KL Rahul has talent in abundance, has all the shots but his mindset has become a problem, nothing frustrates me like him not showing the intent to go for boundaries. His power game may not be where it once was but mostly it is the mindset that has pulled him down.

- 77 (51) with 6 fours and 3 sixes. A great innings by KL, he was opening today and played a wonderful hand for Delhi Capitals. pic.twitter.com/0ktY7AZg25
So refreshing to watch KL Rahul playing free flowing cricket, hitting bowlers like Noor and Jadeja for 6s at Chepauk. Giving up captaincy has made him an aggressive batsman.
