India posted 249/5 after being asked to bat first, with Sanju Samson top-scoring with 82 off 41 balls. Ishan Kishan contributed 43 off 22 deliveries, while captain Shreyas Iyer scored 40 from 18. Tilak Varma added an unbeaten 44 off just 18 balls to lift India to a formidable total.

West Indies responded with an aggressive approach from the outset. Hope remained unbeaten on 102 off 45 balls, hitting six fours and nine sixes. Rutherford smashed 84 from 37 deliveries, including seven fours and seven sixes, while Shepherd finished unbeaten on 34 off 13 balls.
