Australia batter Travis Head took a brutal dig at England legend Stuart Broad following the home team securing a third consecutive victory in the ongoing Ashes 2025-26 series. The left-handed batter shared a four-word dig during the Ashes series victory celebration, which grabbed attention on social media platforms.

Australia secured the Ashes series in just 11 days, equalling a record set by Steve Waugh’s teams in the early 2000s. The hosts dominated the series despite missing key players. Steve Smith missed the Adelaide Test, Pat Cummins was unavailable for the first two matches, and Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the series.

Before the series began, many England supporters expected their side to dominate. However, Australia outperformed them and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

Travis Head Takes a Dig at Stuart Broad After Retaining the Ashes

Travis Head did not miss the chance to hit back at Stuart Broad after Australia’s dominant Ashes performances. Before the series, Broad had claimed that Australia were at their weakest since 2010, while England were at their strongest.

“It’s probably the worst Australian team since 2010 when England last won, and it’s the best English team since 2010," Broad had said.

After Australia sealed their dominance, Head posted a photo on social media with captain Pat Cummins. The post, shared on Instagram Stories, quickly caught attention. Head’s short message is a clear reminder of how wrong the prediction turned out to be.

“Is it 2010 yet?” Travis Head captioned a picture of himself holding up a drink alongside Cummins on social media.

Do I Regret Saying That? - Stuart Broad

Speaking on the For The Love of Cricket podcast, Stuart Broad stated that the criticism has not changed his view. The former England fast bowler said he still feels the current Australian side does not match some of the great teams from the past.

“Do I regret saying that? No. I did say Australia would have to play very badly to lose the Ashes and England would have to play very well,” Broad said on his For The Love of Cricket podcast.

“Australia haven’t played very badly and England haven’t played very well. I had Australia down as favourites, but I didn’t have them down as 3-0 favourites. There are a lot of things that have gone England’s way [in terms of injury and illness suffered by Australian players]. England haven’t been good enough ultimately. Australia have been relentless in what they’ve done. They’ve showed age is just a number," he added.

Travis Head’s Promotion Delivers Big Impact for Australia

Travis Head’s move to the top of the order has worked well for Australia. He has given the team fast starts and put England under pressure early in the innings.

Head scored a century in the first Test at Perth and followed it up with another big knock in Adelaide. In Adelaide, Head walked in to open with Australia already holding a first-innings lead. He shared an important stand with Usman Khawaja and then added a massive partnership with Alex Carey.

Head missed out on a double hundred but still played a match-winning innings of 170. Australia lost wickets after he got out, but the damage was already done. His knock helped Australia set a huge target.
