Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif cautioned that Pakistan’s tendency to get carried away has often worked against them in matches against India. He said that India have succeeded with their composure and adaptation to match situations.

“We get emotional or hyper and try to do everything in one go. India play according to the conditions and the situation—that’s why they succeed,” he said.

Latif said that Hardik Pandya is a game-changer, while Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, and Sanju Samson provide stability. He added that Jasprit Bumrah is a match-winner due to his precise bowling in T20Is.

“Accuracy is everything in T20Is, and Bumrah is unmatched,” Latif noted.

He also mentioned that Pakistan could gain an advantage from recent experience on spin-friendly pitches.

Pakistan will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign on Friday, September 12, with a Group A encounter against first-time participants Oman at the Dubai International Stadium. The match will take place just two days before their much-anticipated match against archrivals India.

The Men in Green enter into the tournament after lifting the UAE Tri-Series title. They defeated Afghanistan by 75 runs in the final match. The team already acclimatized to UAE conditions through that series.

Pakistan have a mixed record in the T20I version of the Asia Cup. They have five wins and five losses to their name, with their best performance coming as runners-up in 2022. Overall, they have clinched the Asia Cup only twice in their cricketing history.
