Tymal Mills Predicts The Winner Of ICC T20 World Cup 2024
English pacer Tymal Mills has picked the winner of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He was a part of the English side that won the last T20 World Cup in 2022 in Australia. England Cricket Team has had a shambolic ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign where they finished seventh behind the likes of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Coming as the defending champions in the tournament, England could only manage three wins out of nine games in the tournament and barely qualified for the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled for 2025.
However, their approach has not changed and the players still prefer to attack unanimously which has led to shambolic results in the longer format. Recently, England was defeated by West Indies in a three-match ODI series which shows that the team requires severe reforms in the longer formats. In T20Is, their approach has got a lot of appreciation given that they are the current T20 World Champions.
Tymal Mills, who was part of England’s T20 World Cup winning squad in 2022, reckons that England can defend their title in the upcoming T20 World Cup that will be jointly hosted by West Indies And the USA. Tymal Mills assured that the preparation for the T20 World Cup is going well while acknowledging the talks after England’s performance in the 50-over World Cup.
IPL Will Help England Players To Prepare For The T20 World Cup, Says Tymal Mills
“There’s been a lot spoken about the 50-over World Cup. I wasn’t part of it or out there so I can’t give too much comment. But when it comes to T20 cricket I know the preparation for this World Cup is going to be a lot better. We’re playing this series now [in the Caribbean], we have another series at home against Pakistan in May,” said Tymal Mills.
Mills also suggested that IPL will play a vast role in England’s preparation for the T20 World Cup as the players will enter the tournament after playing a lot of T20 cricket. “I’m sure the vast majority of the lads will be in the Indian Premier League before that so come World Cup time next summer everyone in that squad will go into it having played a lot of T20 cricket whereas that wasn’t the case with the 50-over World Cup.”
“We’ve got enough quality in English cricket. You can put out multiple T20 teams that are really strong. Everybody should be confident but we’ve still got to do it out on the pitch,” he concluded.
England won the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and will now enter the 2024 T20 World Cup as defending champions and they are looking strong as a T20 side. There is a huge possibility that they can defend their title as T20 World Champions but the tricky conditions in West Indies and USA might be a big hurdle in their path.
