USA’s explosive batter Aaron Jones has time and again expressed his desire to participate in the world’s biggest T20 extravaganza—the Indian Premier League. Aaron Jones had stolen the limelight during the 2024 T20 World Cup with his explosive power hitting.
Jones has even proved his credentials as a leader, having led the USA in the USA National Cricket Team in regular skipper Monank Patel's absence. Even the American cricketer had registered for the IPL mega-auction last year with a base price of 30 lakhs.
Aaron Jones failed to make cut in the final list for the IPL 2025 mega auction
However, Jones didn't make the final list of players selected for the mega-auction. The 30-year-old was hoping to get an IPL pass after being picked up by the St. Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as a local player, as the opener holds a Barbados passport as well.
Actually, the St. Lucia Kings are owned by the Indian Premier League franchise Punjab Kings, and that’s why there are hopes of him getting the chance in the tournament, additionally because of his 2024 T20 World Cup campaign in the USA and Caribbean last year.
Well, Jones didn’t get the chance in the Indian Premier League mega auction, but it seems that he is somehow on the radar of a few teams to get the chance to play in the Indian league in the ongoing IPL 2025. The right-handed batter has taken social media by storm with his latest post.

This post was a clear hint that the American cricketer is all set to be seen in action in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 soon, as even the ICC umpire Richard Kettleborough commented on the post by saying Amen with a blessing emoticon. Even Jones himself showed a gesture of agreement to a comment reading ‘You said it, so it's happening’ on his X post on Tuesday.
However, neither of the franchisees has announced the replacement signing, but Jones’ post sparked excitement among the fans, with some speculating he is joining Punjab Kings while others hope Delhi Capitals will get this boost after Harry Brook’s withdrawal.
Aaron Jones could join the growing list of Associate stars in the Indian Premier League
If Jones gets the chance this season, it won’t be a surprise, as the IPL has often given chances to talented players from Associate Nations. Over the years, many such cricketers have made their mark in the Indian Premier League.
Players like David Wiese from Namibia, Roelof van der Merwe and Dirk Nannes from the Netherlands, Tim David from Singapore, Sandeep Lamichhane from Nepal, and Ryan ten Doeschate from the Netherlands have all played in the IPL and impressed fans with their skills.
Notably, Jones has so far played 52 ODIs and 42 T20Is, amassing 1664 and 701 runs, respectively. The leg-spinner also has eight wickets to his name in international cricket. He has also so far played in 61 T20s and scored 916 runs with the highest score of an unbeaten 94 and has taken 8 wickets as well.
