Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle expressed his admiration for ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah following his match-winning bowling performance against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. Harsha Bhogle stated that Jasprit Bumrah is now unquestionably the best bowler in the world across formats.

Jasprit Bumrah was instrumental in Team India's six-run victory over the Pakistan team at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday, June 9. The right-arm pacer helped the Indian cricket team successfully defend a below-par 119 runs in their second match of the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah Is Doing What Kumble At His Peak Used To Do - Harsha Bhogle

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Harsha Bhogle likened Jasprit Bumrah's performance to Anil Kumble's dominance in his prime. Bhogle also noted Bumrah's strategic adjustments in his bowling, opting for the right length deliveries rather than yorkers.

"Bumrah is now doing what Kumble at his peak used to do. He used to come and say, I'm the bank here; don't worry about me. Bumrah is now unquestionably the best bowler in the world," Bhogle said.

"I think he tried one yorker to Shadab that went a little fuller. He didn't bowl yorkers today at all because I think he realized that the length was the right ball to bowl," he added.

Rohit Sharma handed the ball to the 30-year-old pace bowler in the third over. Bumrah produced a wicket-taking opportunity with his fourth delivery, but Shivam Dube dropped a sitter. However, Bumrah managed to get rid of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who scored 13 runs off 10 balls in his second over.

The Mumbai Indians pacer dismissed Mohammed Rizwan on the first delivery of his second spell. Bumrah ended his spell with a wicket of Iftikhar Ahmed on his final delivery. He took three wickets for just 14 runs in his four-over quota. He earned his second "Player of the Match" in the ongoing ICC tournament.

Indians Did The Right Things - Zaheer Khan

Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan highlighted Jasprit Bumrah's crucial dismissals of key batters like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the match. Zaheer also emphasized that Indian fast bowlers backed themselves to execute their plans regardless of the outcome.

"He got Babar out, he got Rizwan out, what more do you want. All the Indians actually did the right things. They stuck to the plan. They kept things simple. Didn't overcomplicate it. You look at Hardik as well. He's also someone who used slower ones, bouncers, and short-pitched deliveries well. The communication between the bowling unit looked very clear and they backed themselves to do the right thing in spite of whatever is the result," Zaheer said.

Jasprit Bumrah will be next seen in action when the Rohit Sharma-led team faces the United States of America (USA) at the same venue in New York on Wednesday, June 12. The Men in Blue will advance to the Super 8 stages of the tournament if they win their next match.
