Team India U19 batter Vihaan Malhotra recalled one of the most enjoyable moments during the recent series against the England U19 team. Malhotra stated that Vaibhav Suryavanshi was really shy while signing autographs for a group of fans, which gave the rest of the squad a reason to tease him.

Suryavanshi emerged as one of the best performers during IPL 2025. The 13-year-old left-hander was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore in the mega auction last year. He justified the franchise’s faith with impressive performances at the crease and won the Super Striker of the Season award in 2025.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Bat Swing Leaves Teammates in Awe - Vihaan Malhotra

Vihaan Malhotra and Vaibhav Suryavanshi added 209 runs for the second wicket in the fourth Youth ODI. Malhotra stated that they are in awe of Vaibhav’s bat swing. The young cricketer added that Vaibhav’s IPL performances inspired him to push harder and improve his own game.

“In the fourth one-day, I put on 209 runs for the second wicket with Vaibhav. We both scored centuries, but he smoked 10 sixes, and I had the best seat in the house. His bat swing is something we are in awe of," Malhotra recalls.

“Cricketing field always teaches you new things. For example, in my case, I have two absolute superstars in my team. Competition is there, and in the future, people will compare us with them as well but it is good for us. When Vaibhav was hitting sixes for fun in the IPL, it pumped me to work hard," he said.

Vihaan Malhotra’s Performances for India U19 on England Tour

Before the England tour, Vihaan Malhotra struggled to score runs and even lost his opening spot in the Indian U19 side to teammates Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre. However, the 18-year-old from Patiala bounced back with strong performances.

Malhotra amassed 243 runs in five Youth one-dayers at an average of 69.25 and a strike rate of 79.83, finishing as the third-highest scorer. He also added 277 runs and took three wickets in two Youth Tests, helping India achieve success.

Following his success, Malhotra has been appointed vice-captain for the upcoming Australia tour, where India U19 will play three one-day matches and two multi-day games starting September 21.
