Discussions have started around Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for India’s upcoming away series against England. After another blistering Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the 15-year-old batter has been in contention for Team India selection for the senior team.

It is widely reported that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on the verge of making his debut for the senior team this year. But when that has been the question. If all the parameters are set well for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener, then he could get the opportunity to play against England in the away series.

India will face England in a white-ball series

Team India will be under preparation for back-to-back outings against Afghanistan, Ireland, and then England, respectively. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is not in the ODI squad for the Afghanistan series, but he could be against the Ireland and England series.

Chances are heavy for the emerging batter to find a spot in the T20I squad for the 2-match series against Ireland. But will the board show their trust in the bidding talent when the Men in Blue will be up against the Three Lions? There are some doubts.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India's ODI team?

If the latest reports are to be believed, then Vaibhav Sooryavanshi can be placed into the India vs England ODI series as well. Rohit Juglan, a RevSportz reporter, claims on ‘X’ that the selectors are looking over all the aspects of whether he could fit Vaibhav Sooryavanshi into the squad for the ODI series.

“There are discussions around Sooryavanshi for that ODI series vs Eng - If anyone has any doubts, this innings filled with temperament is the answer. Well played, Baby Monster,” the reporter claims.

Sooryavanshi displayed composure, temperament, and skills vs GT

Last night, when the Rajasthan Royals were up against the Gujarat Titans in a must-win match, conditions were not very favourable for swashbuckling batting in the first innings. Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Jason Holder, the pacers of GT, got extra bounce from the surface, which did not allow Sooryavanshi to play his natural game.

To stop the highly aggressive batter from scoring runs fluently, the GT pacers applied the body line strategy as well. Despite all the applications, the southpaw remained firm on the deck and showed his temperament as well.

It was a rare occasion when he showed his composure along with his batting skills. Later, when he had the notion about the bounce on the pitch, one by one, he took out his tools from his bag to counter the opposing bowling attack.

He ended his well-balanced knock with an entertaining 96 runs from 47 balls. The surreal innings was decorated with eight 4s and seven 6s, and a strike rate of 204.26. Riding high on the 96-run knock, Rajasthan Royals got 214, which ultimately proved insufficient to restrict the Gujarat Titans from making their way into the final of the IPL 2026 season.
