The 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is all set to make his debut for the India National Cricket Team.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken the cricket world by storm since his debut for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to be picked for India tour of Ireland 2026

According to the latest report in the Indian Express, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to become the youngest player to represent the country as he is likely to be picked for India tour of Ireland 2026 in June, which will be held before England tour

“He is in contention for the Ireland tour and the selectors have shortlisted his name along with those of many other players,” a source in the Indian cricket board confirmed.

The two-match T20I series between India and Ireland, which will feature Vaibhav, will be played on June 26 and 28 at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dominates in IPL

The left-handed batsman has played 12 games, so far, in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In those matches, he has hammered 452 runs at an amazing average of 37.66 and a monstrous strike rate of 228.28.

Also, the wonder kid has been on fire in the ongoing season as in just 5 matches, he has scored 200 runs at a brilliant average of 40.00 and a strike rate of 263.15.

Many felt that Sooryavanshi's dominance would end in the Indian Premier League (IPL) once he came up against the superstar bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood.

However, such has not been the case as Sooryavanshi dispatched the modern-day great Jasprit Bumrah for the first-ball six and was equally dominant against the premier Aussie paceman Josh Hazlewood.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi endures his first failure against SRH

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) teenage sensation bagged his first failure in the IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as Praful Hinge cleaned him up for a duck.

He would be looking to bounce back in the next game but before that the cricketer-turned-broadcaster Simon Doull has issued a stark warning to the youngster and urged the people around him to focus on the interest of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi instead of trying to extract money out of the youngster.

“It is a word of caution. He already is a bit of a superstar. If things carry on, we all hope he will continue to be a superstar, an Indian superstar, in white-ball cricket in particular. It's the people you surround yourself with. He would have had every management company looking for him and trying to find deals for him,” Doull said on Cricbuzz.

"Management companies and management people are there to look after you. Too many of them only think about looking out for themselves. How much can I make of this young man? How much can my company make of this young man? That's the biggest issue I have with management companies worldwide,” he added.

“They all worry about what they can make, not how well I should be looking out for this young man? How much should I be looking out for his career? And not making him do much at this point. The longevity should be there. If you stop performing, they would go be chasing the next bloke because that's what managers do,” said Doull.
