Team India's teenage batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi impressed during a training session in Durham ahead of the upcoming five-match T20I series against England. The 15-year-old played several attacking shots in the nets, drawing attention as he continued to strengthen his case for an international debut.

India, led by Shreyas Iyer, will begin the five-match T20I series against England on Wednesday, July 1. The reigning T20 World Cup champions will be eager to recover after suffering a surprising 2-0 series defeat to Ireland in Belfast. It will be interesting to see whether Vaibhav makes his debut for India.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Impresses in India Training Ahead of England T20I

Star Sports shared the video of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's impressive batting during India's training session in Durham ahead of the first T20I against England. The young left-hander looked confident against India's frontline pacers, including Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh.

Sooryavanshi attacked the bowlers with confidence, stepping out of his crease to hit big shots. He also played powerful pull shots and elegant drives, showing the form that earned him a place in the Indian squad.

He struck a straight drive off his Rajasthan Royals teammate Ravi Bishnoi. The shot was hit so firmly that the leg-spinner had to quickly move out of its path during the practice session.

We've Got Our Tactics - Harry Brook on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

England captain Harry Brook said that his team has prepared specific plans to face Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, even though the teenager's T20I debut is yet to be confirmed. Brook admitted that England have closely studied the young batter's game ahead of the series opener.

"We've got our tactics and hopefully they work," Brook said when asked about facing Sooryavanshi. "There's been a lot of digging behind the scenes to see what we can do. To try and stop them from playing their best cricket."

The 15-year-old is still waiting for his international debut after missing out during the Ireland series. India's 2-0 defeat in Belfast has increased calls for his inclusion, especially after the struggles of the opening pair.

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson had a difficult series against Ireland. Abhishek scored 49 and 0, while Samson managed 5 and 0, with both batters dismissed for ducks in the second T20I.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Eyes India Debut in England Tour

If Vaibhav Sooryavanshi makes his debut in the first T20I against England, he will become India's youngest international cricketer, breaking Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record. The 15-year-old earned his maiden call-up after an outstanding run across domestic and age-group cricket.

Sooryavanshi forced his way into the national squad after a sensational IPL 2026 season with Rajasthan Royals. He scored 776 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 237.30, winning both the Player of the Tournament and Emerging Player awards.

The left-handed batter carried that form into the Tri-Nation A series in Dambulla. He smashed the fastest fifty in List A history with an 11-ball half-century against Sri Lanka A and followed it with a brilliant 94 off 29 balls in the final.
