Rajasthan Royals' teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was seen talking to Lucknow Super Giants team owner Sanjiv Goenka after the two teams' IPL 2026 clash at Jaipur on Tuesday.
The Royals bolstered their chances of grabbing the last available slot in the IPL playoffs with a 7-wicket win over LSG. LSG were already eliminated form playoffs contention, while RR have the best chance of the five teams still in contention for the last spot.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi falls short of a century
RR's stand-in captain, Yashasvi Jaiswal, chose to bowl first, and LSG made the most of that opportunity.
Josh Inglis was at his destructive best, and LSG put up 83 in the powerplay. He put up a stand of 109 with Mitchell Marsh and made 60 from just 29 balls.
Marsh himself continued to 97 before being dismissed in the last over. Marsh also put up impactful stands of 42 with Nicholas Pooran and 64 with Rishabh Pant, respectively. LSG eventually set RR 221.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi struggled at the start, making just 11 runs off his first 12 balls while Yashasvi Jaiswal kept up the tempo in the powerplay. Jaiswal was dismissed for 43 in an opening stand of 75, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued with his usual ways.
With 10 sixes and 7 fours, he eventually finished with 93 runs from 38 deliveries and put up 105 with Dhruv Jurel in just about 7 overs. The most brutal parts included a 26-run over off Akash Singh and a 29-run over against Mayank Yadav.
By the time Sooryavanshi was dismissed, RR basically needed a run-a-ball, and Jurel completed his fifty and the chase in the last over.
LSG owner Goenka was seen talking to Sooryavanshi
After the match, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen talking to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and the visuals were captured by the broadcasters.
Sooryavanshi was talking to young fans and signing autographs for them when approached by Goenka. The two seemed to share a friendly chat and were laughing
Former India batter Sunil Gavaskar noticed the interaction while on commentary and excitedly tried to decipher the words the two might have been saying to each other.
“I will be bidding for you soon," Gavaskar said on air, teasing a potential move for Sooryavanshi from RR. At best, Gavaskar's remarks can be dismissed as humorous rather than speculative since there are no real indications that RR would ever release Sooryavanshi unless he specifically says so.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in IPL 2026
After his explosive debut last year, Sooryavanshi has gone on to touch greater heights.
At the end of Tuesday's game against LSG, he was the Orange Cap holder in IPL 2026. With 579 runs in 13 matches, he became the youngest player to score 500 runs in an IPL season.
His runs have come at an average of 44.53 and a strike rate of 236.32. He has also made one century alongside three fifties.
He has also hit a staggering 53 sixes this season, which is already the second most by any player in a single IPL season.
