Former Pakistani pacer Tanvir Ahmed is also in awe of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's spectacular batting, as he made the bold claim that people will forget the fireworks of Abhishek Sharma once the Rajasthan Royals youngster comes in to play for India.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the Rajasthan Royals' opening batter, took control of the innings and has been constantly backed by former stars to be brought into the Indian senior Men's team. He has now received some ultimate backing from cricketers around the globe.

However, Abhishek Sharma, the Indian T20I opener, has struggled in recent times. He has not only struggled with batting form but has also lost form in recent times. However, he has scored runs at times after the ICC T20 World Cup final.

“When Sooryavanshi plays for India, people will forget Abhishek Sharma" - Tanvir Ahmed's bold claim

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become something of an enigma at the age of 15, which has left many cricket experts in total awe of the Indian youngster. Former Pakistani pacer Tanvir Ahmed has now revealed that Abhishek Sharma will be a forgotten star after Sooryavanshi is brought back into the side.

Tanvir has no doubts whatsoever when he asserts, “When Sooryavanshi plays for India, people will forget Abhishek Sharma. And when both will be batting together, Abhishek won't come even close to Sooryavanshi.”

"People won't even notice Abhishek. Everyone will be looking at Sooryavanshi. On your TV screen, you wouldn't even notice Abhishek," he added. These remarks came after Sooryavanshi's spectacular IPL season in 2026.

Tanvir Ahmed doubts Sooryavanshi's effectiveness in the long run

Abhishek Sharma was brought into the India team following Rohit Sharma's retirement in 2024. Abhishek had a wonderful season with the bat in IPL 2024, as he amassed 450+ runs for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Since then, he has scored over 1000+ runs for India, opening the innings for the Men in Blue. However, his form has dipped in recent times, especially in the ICC T20 World Cup, when he scored consecutive ducks and managed just two half-centuries, including one in the final.

Speaking of Sooryavanshi, Tanvir could not ensure a special performance from him in the long run, as he claimed that his comments are for now and not the long run. "Over a period of 10 years or so, however, I can't say if Sooryavanshi will be as devastating. I am talking about right now," he explained.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been unstoppable since IPL 2025

Ever since he was bought for INR 1.10 crore in the IPL mega-auction, he had played 7 matches for the Rajasthan Royals. Having played in 5 games, he amassed 250+ runs alongside a century in the tournament.

Sooryavanshi, since then, has made a stunning rise in international cricket for India. He has played vital innings for the Indian Youth side in England and Australia before winning the Under-19 World Cup with the Indian side in 2026.

Seemingly, he seems to possess more talent than even the greatest of cricketers of all time, Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at the tender age of 16. Sooryavanshi amassed 200 runs in IPL 2026 while striking at a whopping strike rate between 250 and 300.
