After dominating the IPL 2026 with Rajasthan Royals, the teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has failed to make a strong impression with the bat on India A’s ongoing tour of Sri Lanka. He has been badly struggling for consistency with the bat.

Vaibhav fell cheaply for 21 runs off 14 balls during India A’s crucial match against Sri Lanka A in the ongoing one-day Tri-Series at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on June 14.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's struggles continue on Sri Lanka tour

Before this clash, Vaibhav hammered a quick knock of 44 runs off just 22 balls for India A against Afghanistan A in Dambulla on June 11. The 15-year-old also stitched a 74-run opening partnership with Prabhsimran Singh in just 7.1 overs, yet India lost the match by just 4 runs via the DLS method.

Interestingly, the left-handed batter also failed to get going in the ongoing one-day tri-series opener against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla. He had managed only 14 runs off 12 balls against Sri Lanka A. Despite his struggles, Graeme Swann admitted that he's scared of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

The young batter attacked from the start, played some beautiful shots, and put pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers with his fearless approach. He raced to 21 runs in 14 balls, smashing three fours and one six. But Sri Lanka A's spinner Sahan Arachchige managed to dismiss the dangerous batter.

The bowler floated the ball outside the off stump and got it to turn slightly after pitching. Vaibhav tried to play a big shot over the covers. However, the teenage sensation failed to read the turn properly, and he managed to get a thick outside edge.

The ball flew high towards the point region, where Wanuja Sahan was stationed, and he moved into the right position and took a brilliant catch to send Vaibhav back to the dugout. His entertaining innings came to an end at 21 off just 14 deliveries against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla.

Prabhsimran Singh and Tilak Varma also fall cheaply against Sri Lanka A

After Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s poor outing, India lost another wicket when Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed for 11 runs off 13 balls. Mohamed Shiraz bowled a clever slow leg-cutter that Prabhsimran failed to read properly. He ended up chipping the ball straight to Wanuja Sahan at mid-off while trying to play an attacking drive.

Sahan took another stunning catch against India A. India A captain Tilak Varma also failed to make the most of his good start. Kugathas Mathulan bowled a short and wide delivery outside the off stump, and Tilak went for a strong cut shot. Recently, Tilak Varma shared honest verdict after India A's loss to Afghanistan.

However, he failed to keep the ball on the ground and hit it straight to Sadeera Samarawickrama at backward point, and he did not make any mistake in sending the captain back to the dugout for 23 runs off 32 balls. With this, India A slipped to 91/3 in 15.2 overs against Sri Lanka A.
