A net session for the Rajasthan Royals’ promotional shoot turned into an unforceful event, all thanks to a 14-year-old explosive batter from Bihar, and that is none other than Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He may be just a teenager, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already developed a reputation for fearless hitting, whether in first-class cricket, the India U-19 squad, or while representing Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
But on Thursday, August 7, Vaibhav’s power-hitting behind the scenes turned all the heads with concerns. The left-handed batter, wearing a GoPro camera on his helmet, stepped into the nets for a routine shoot for his IPL franchise, the Rajasthan Royals, as per TOI.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scares Rajasthan Royals crew with blistering drive during shoot
At the non-striker’s end, five members of the camera crew lined up to capture close-range footage of the young Indian batting sensation in action. As the bowler delivered a ball, Vaibhav unleashed a thunderous straight drive. The ball rocketed back at lightning speed, bypassing the bowler and screaming toward the camera crew like a missile, as reported by the Times of India.

The scared cameraman instinctively ducked, dove, and struggled to avoid a direct hit. A couple of them even fell on the ground in panic. However, no one was hurt by Vaibhav’s fierce shot, but had the ball struck someone, it could have led to a serious medical emergency on the spot.
After the incident, Vaibhav Suryavanshi immediately rushed towards the crew member and sincerely apologized with a heartfelt “Sorry.” It was a moment that captured both the fierce power in his bat and the genuine humility he carries and won the hearts.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive rise
Earlier this year, the young Indian batting sensation made the headlines by hammering a record 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in the IPL 2025. It was the fastest hundred ever by an Indian in IPL history and the second-fastest overall.
During India U-19’s tour of England this summer, Vaibhav opened the series with a blazing 48 off 19 balls, followed by a quickfire 45 from 34 in the next game. Then came a 50 off just 20 deliveries—the third-fastest half-century ever for India U-19s. But the real highlight came in the final Youth ODI at Worcester, where he smashed a historic 52-ball century, the fastest in Youth ODI history.
With the help of his impressive knock of 143 runs off 78 balls, Vaibhav finished the Youth ODI series as the top run-scorer of the series, piling up 355 runs at an average of 71. However, the youngster’s red-ball outings during the Youth Tests were not that impressive, scoring 90 runs at 22.50. However, he is still seen as one of India’s most exciting young batting talents.
He is definitely not a single-dimensional player: Vaibhav Suryavanshi's coach
However, Vaibhav’s childhood coach, Manish Ojha, believed that the youngster is far from being a one-format player. Ojha was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times, “There is a requirement for consistency, but he is definitely not a single-dimensional player or just good at playing T20s or one-dayers.
The player grows and matures over a period of time, and several aspects, such as wicket play, shot selection, and execution process, all develop over time. And in the days ahead, he will have a better performance.”
