Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken the internet by storm, with praises pouring in from all over the world. Google CEO Sundar Pichai showered praise after watching Suryavanshi, who made his IPL debut at just 14 years old, batting against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Suryavanshi became the youngest player to debut in the IPL at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, April 19. He opened the innings for the Rajasthan Royals in the absence of skipper Sanju Samson. The 14-year-old left-hander smashed a six off his very first delivery off pacer Shardul Thakur.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 34 runs off just 20 balls, including three sixes and two fours, at a strike rate of 170. He opened the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and added an 85-run stand in just 52 balls for the first wicket while chasing a target of 181 runs.
His knock came to an end in the ninth over when he was stumped by Rishabh Pant off Aiden Markram’s bowling. Vaibhav Suryavanshi lost his balance and stepped out of the crease. The 14-year-old appeared tearful as he walked back to the dugout after his short but thrilling performance.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi joined a rare group of players by hitting a six off the very first ball of his IPL career. Rob Quiney (RR), Kevon Cooper (RR), Andre Russell (KKR), Carlos Brathwaite (DD, now Delhi Capitals), Aniket Choudhary (RCB), Javon Searles (KKR), Siddesh Lad (MI), Mahesh Theekshana (CSK), and Sameer Rizvi (CSK) have also achieved this feat.

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, was left amazed by Vaibhav Suryavanshi's IPL debut. Taking to social media, Sundar shared that he woke up to watch an 8th grader playing in the IPL.

It is worth mentioning that Vaibhav Suryavanshi was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.10 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. He showcased his talent and justified the trust placed in him by the team management.

England cricketer Sam Billings compared the young left-hander to Indian legend Yuvraj Singh while commenting on his impressive bat swing and explosive debut. Former Australian cricketer Damien Fleming expressed his astonishment on social media after Suryavanshi hit a six on his very first ball in the IPL.

Despite Vaibhav Suryavanshi's strong performance, the Rajasthan Royals failed to cross the finish line, with the Riyan Parag-led team losing by just two runs. This was their sixth loss in eight matches this season.
