Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a teen sensation from Bihar, has caught the attention of the entire world after becoming the youngest millionaire overnight at the recent IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The 13-year-old batter has been bought by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping INR 1.1 crore on day 2 of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. With his record-breaking deal with Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player ever to be signed at the IPL auction.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi stays focused on winning Asia Cup 2024

His inclusion has sent shockwaves through the cricketing community, wondering at the rise of this teenage wonder. Despite the intense media attention and the hype surrounding his extraordinary IPL deal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi remained grounded.

The teen sensation revealed that he's not fazed by the whirlwind of excitement around him, saying his focus remains on his game and winning the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024, his immediate target.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was quoted as saying by Sony Sports Network: “I'm currently focused on my game. I’m not paying much attention to social media. I'm not bothered by what's happening around me. My current focus is on the Asia Cup and how we can win the trophy and then take it game by game. That's my focus right now.”

Recently, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to get 100 at the U19 level in red-ball cricket, and now he wants to get another hundred in white-ball cricket. The young sensation further added, “It was a good feeling to score a 100 on debut. It was a good experience for me to play red ball, and now I’m excited to have a knock in the white ball as well.”

Brian Lara is my idol: Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has expressed his admiration for the West Indies legend Brian Lara, calling him his idol, overlooking Indian legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

He mentioned that he takes inspiration from Brian Lara’s style of play, but at the same time, he wants to maintain his own natural skills, and he is determined to develop and refine his abilities.

Suryavanshi signed off by saying, “Brian Lara is my idol. I try to play like him; the rest I try to keep natural with whatever skills I have, and I want to work on that.”

Suryavanshi's career highlight in brief

Notably, Suryavanshi made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024 at the age of just 12 years and 284 days. Last month, he showcased his talent during an India U19 match against Australia in Chennai, where he scored a remarkable 58-ball century.

In his five first-class appearances, Vaibhav has so far amassed 100 runs, with a highest score of 41. Additionally, Vaibhav represented Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and made his T20 debut on November 23 against Rajasthan.

He is currently playing in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024.
