Fresh match-fixing allegations have put young Delhi cricketer Vansh Bedi under the spotlight. The controversy has grown after claims were made about the use of a CSK player to obtain important information linked to possible fixing in the IPL 2025 and Delhi Premier League (DPL).
Bedi has reportedly become part of the discussion because he was the common link between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the DPL. DDCA says Vansh Bedi will face action if found guilty
Actually, the heart of the matter is Vansh Bedi’s connection with Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Premier League that has now brought his name into the match-fixing controversy. Bedi was bought by CSK for INR 55 lakh at the auction ahead of the 2025 IPL season.
A sting operation has recently raised serious match-fixing allegations around the Delhi Premier League. The matter relates to Game 7 of the DPL’s third edition between Central Delhi Kings and North Delhi Strikers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Addressing the allegations, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma said that Vansh Bedi is an important part of the state setup, having represented Delhi at the domestic level. However, Sharma made it clear that if an investigation finds Bedi involved in any wrongdoing, he will have to face the consequences.
Ashok Sharma was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times: “He is in our team, he is fully part of it, and he has played for the state from here… If fingers are pointed at him and an investigation takes place, then if he has done something, he will face the consequences. And if he hasn't, he will come out clean.”
DDCA wants official BCCI investigation first
However, the DDCA has decided not to jump to any conclusion at this stage. The association is expected to take any action after receiving an official communication from the BCCI.
Since the allegations still need to be properly investigated, Sharma insisted that the final action will depend on the findings of the official process and whatever directions come from the BCCI.
The DDCA secretary added, “Why should we jump to conclusions right away? Once we receive an official letter from the BCCI, we’ll have our anti-corruption department check everything and verify all his details, phone records, and whatever else is possible at that time, because the anti-corruption department at that time belonged to the BCCI. So that entire system was managed by them. Whatever BCCI says and whatever the president says, we will abide by it.”
What's the matter and the reaction?
Actually, a former Ranji player, Rachit Bhatia, reportedly unaware that he was being recorded, allegedly claimed that he had shared important information before the toss. He also made claims about fixing matches involving Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025 and spot-fixing during the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he played two T20 matches for Nagaland.
Well, the DDCA has informed the BCCI about the matter and said it is ready to share all available evidence. The association has also stressed that there was no wrongdoing in the DPL. Sharma also noted that the allegations shown in the sting are currently recordings and claims that would need to be properly verified before coming to any conclusion.
The DDCA also highlighted its strict anti-corruption measures during the tournament. The secretary revealed that around ₹30-35 lakh was spent on an anti-corruption setup, with specialized officers appointed directly through the BCCI. These officials accompanied teams during travel, stayed at their hotels, and were deployed with all eight participating teams to prevent any corruption-related activity during the Delhi Premier League.
