Venkatesh Prasad picks Jasprit Bumrah as India's next Test captain; names greatest ever Indian cricketer

Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has picked Jasprit Bumrah as India's next Test captain, provided his workload management is well taken care of. He also named Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev as the best-ever cricketers to have emerged from India.
Prasad further picked Virat Kohli as India's best captain in Test cricket and MS Dhoni in ODIs. He also took the name of Sourav Ganguly for changing the mindset of the team which proved to be crucial for the upcoming generations.

Venkatesh Prasad picks Jasprit Bumrah as India's next Test captain
While replying to a user on social media, Venkatesh Prasad named Jasprit Bumrah as India's next Test captain. However, he wants Bumrah's workload to be carefully managed. Bumrah has been India's best bowler across formats for the past few years.

The 31-year-old was the highest wicket-taker of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 32 wickets in five Tests at an average of 13.06. Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3 five-wicket hauls in the series and was also chosen the Player of the Series.
Jasprit Bumrah led India to a brilliant win in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the absence of Rohit Sharma. He also led the team in the fifth Test in Sydney but was injured midway through the match. Since then, he has been injured and there is still no update on his return.

The former India quick was further asked about India's best-ever captain. Prasad picked Virat Kohli for the Test format and MS Dhoni for the ODIs. He also praised Sourav Ganguly for his inspired captaincy and for changing the mindset of the team.

Virat Kohli has an incredible record as a Test captain for India and is the country's most successful Test captain. He led India in 68 matches and India emerged victorious in 40 out of them. His win percentage is 58.82.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is India's most successful ODI captain with 110 wins in 200 matches at a win percentage of 55. Under Dhoni, India won two major ICC tournaments in the form of the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
Just like Kohli and Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly's inspired captaincy changed India's mindset in early 2002. Under his leadership, the Men in Blue won the famous Natwest series in 2002 and also reached the final of the 2003 ODI World Cup.
Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev the greatest Indian players
When asked about the greatest Indian player ever, Venkatesh Prasad picked Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev. Both are legendary cricketers of their respective generations and have been part of many historic moments in the game.

Sachin Tendulkar is regarded as the best player to have ever played the game and also played a key part in India's win in the 2011 ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, Kapil Dev is the best all-rounder to have ever played from India. He led India to the 1983 ODI World Cup title.
