Virendra Kambli, the younger brother of Vinod Kambli, recently shared an update on the former Team India cricketer’s health, stating that he is still recuperating from his medical issues. The 53-year-old is receiving treatment at home, and Virendra expressed optimism about his full recovery from issues.

Last October, Vinod Kambli was first diagnosed with a urinary infection that affected his overall condition. The former batter initially showed signs of improvement, but it worsened in December. Doctors also identified a blood clot in his brain. Kambli was discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Speaking on The Vickey Lalwani Show, Virendra described his brother as a fighter who will eventually regain full strength and return to the field. Virendra urged fans to keep Kambli in their prayers and added that recovery will take time.

"He is at home right now. He is getting stable, but his treatment is on. He is having difficulty speaking. It will take him time to recover. But he is a champion, and he will come back. He will start walking and running, hopefully. I have a lot of faith in him. I hope you can see him back on the ground," Virendra said on The Vickey Lalwani Show.

Vinod Kambli Needs Your Love and Support - Virendra Kambli

Virendra Kambli urged the public to pray for his older brother as he continues to recover. He shared that Vinod underwent a 10-day rehabilitation program and had full-body check-ups. However, Vinod still has difficulty walking and speaking.

"He underwent rehab for 10 days. He got an entire body check-up done, including brain scans and a urine test. The results were fine; there weren't too many issues, but since he couldn't walk, he was advised to undergo physiotherapy. He still slurs in his speech, but he is getting better. I just want to tell people who pray for him, so that he gets better. He needs your love and support," he added.

Vinod Kambli’s Early Success and Struggles in International Cricket

Vinod Kambli made a sensational start to his career by scoring back-to-back double centuries in Test cricket. He made his debut for India in 1991 and went on to play 17 Tests and 104 ODIs. The left-handed batter scored 1,084 and 2,477 runs, respectively.

Kambli holds the record as the fastest Indian to reach 1,000 Test runs, achieving the milestone in just 14 innings, and was the third player to hit consecutive double hundreds in Tests. He did not live up to the early expectations.

Kambli last played an international match in India’s ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, where he was dismissed for three in the final as India was bowled out for 54 while chasing 300.
