Virat Kohli Becomes 5th Indian Cricketer To Play 100 ODIs At Home

Former Indian all-format captain Virat Kohli has become the 5th Indian cricketer in history to play 100 One Day Internationals (ODIs) at home.

Batting maestro Virat Kohli achieved this extraordinary milestone in the second One Day International game of the three-match One Day International series against Nicholas Pooran-led West Indies National Cricket Team at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 9.

Before Kohli, only 4 Indian players have played 100 One Day Internationals at home. The 4 players who played 100 home ODIs before Kohli are Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Mohammad Azharuddin and Yuvraj Singh.

Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar played 164 One Day Internationals between 1990 and 2011 and was part of 97 wins and 61 defeats.

Legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni played 127 One Day Internationals from 2005 to 2019 and was part of 78 wins and 43 losses. Mohammad Azharuddin had played 113 One Day Internationals at home and was involved in 70 wins and 40 defeats. Also, legendary all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh played 108 ODIs at home and was part of 65 victories and 39 defeats.

Meanwhile, the former Indian captain Virat Kohli has now been part of 100 One Day Internationals at home and has been involved in 66 wins and 29 defeats.

So far in the 100 home ODIs, Virat Kohli has batted in 97 innings and scored 5014 runs with his highest score of 157*. Also, he has scored his runs at an average of 59.69 and a strike rate of 96.57. He has scored 19 centuries and 25 fifties in home ODIs.

Meanwhile, Kohli is only the 4th batsman in history to score 5000 One Day International runs in home matches. He joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis on the elite list.

Virat Kohli, who has scored has scored over 12000 One Day International runs, is the fastest player to achieve the 5000-run milestone at home. Notably, he has achieved this milestone in his 96th innings.
