Indian legendary cricketer Virat Kohli has praised the stunning effort from the Indian Women's Cricketers in the record chase against Australia Women in the ICC Women's World Cup semi-final. He has also praised the standout innings from Jemimah Rodrigues.
Indian women registered an iconic victory against the Aussies in the semi-final of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 and will be taking on South Africa Women in the World Cup final. This is just the second time Australia has lost a World Cup semi-final, and both times the opponent was the Women in Blue.
Virat Kohli showers praises on the India Women and Jemimah Rodrigues after the iconic World Cup win
Jemimah Rodrigues was promoted up the order for India after she replaced Harleen Deol in the side. She played an exceptional innings of a century while Harmanpreet Kaur backed her with a run-a-ball 80. India chased down the highest total in Women's cricket, that too in a World Cup semi-final.
2011 World Cup winner and Indian legend Virat Kohli posted on his X handle, glorifying India's victory over the defending champions and praising their team effort.
"What a victory by our team over a mighty opponent like Australia. A great chase by the girls and a standout performance by Jemimah in a big game. A true display of resilience, belief, and passion. Well done, Team India!" wrote Virat Kohli on X.

India ends the longest Women's World Cup winning streak for Australia
The Australian Women's team has been the strongest team across genders in the history of World Cups. They lack prowess in none of the fields, and they have been proving it throughout the World Cup. Under Alyssa Healy's leadership, the Aussies relished the longest World Cup winning streak.
The winning streak was of 15 matches from 2022 to 2025, until they lost their first World Cup game in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 in the semi-final against India. They have equalled the previous record set by the Australian side between 1997 and 2000.
Australia's previous defeat in World Cups was against India in the 2017 semi-final in Derbyshire. India ended another winning streak of the mighty Aussies. Australia were the defending champions with 7 titles to their name.
India Women to take on South Africa Women in the World Cup title clash
India Women will now play against South Africa Women in the World Cup final of the 2025 ICC Women's World Cup. This is the second home World Cup final for India in this decade, after the 2023 Men's CWC, where India lost to Australia in the final.
Instead, Indian women will face the Protea Women, who were also finalists and runners-up of the previous ICC T20 World Cup. The Women's World Cup will surely have a new winner, with neither of these teams having won the final.
While India reached their third final after being runners-up back in 2005 and 2017, the South African women have made it to the finals for the first time.
