Virat Kohli made a special food request for lunch
While his on-field antics have been one for everyone to see, the batter had made a special request for food. The Canteen head of Arun Jaitley Stadium, Sanjay Jha, revealed that the India National Cricket Team batter has ordered a special chilli paneer.
Sanjay Jha opened up about how Kohli has been eating at the Arun Jaitley Stadium canteen since his childhood. He mentioned they sent chilli paneer for him and he treats the canteen as his own. Speaking to Sports Tak, he said:
Today he told us to eat chilli paneer - Canteen head of Arun Jaitley Stadium Sanjay Jha on Virat Kohli
"I have been running this canteen for the past 25 years, and I know Virat Kohli from my childhood, and he used to eat from our canteen. He used to play Ranji from here; he went on to play internationally from here. He used to do everything from here but he doesn't have that thing called pride even today. He behaves like normal people do."
"I haven't met him personally yet. Our waiters give orders from there. Today he specially told us to eat chilli paneer. So we have specially sent chilli paneer for him. The best part is that He says it is our canteen. They don't say that they will eat from outside. They say that they will eat from our canteen."
Once I asked him if we should order something from outside, but he refused - Sanjay Jha on Virat Kohli
Sanjay Jha revealed that earlier Virat Kohli used to eat chilli chicken and he used to recommend it to his teammates. He added that once he asked that batter if he wanted to eat food from outside, but he denied it, saying that he wanted to have food from the canteen itself. He added:
“Earlier, chilli chicken used to be his favourite. Not only did he use to eat it, but he also recommended it to his teammates. Now he has chole bhature or kadhi chawal. Once I asked him if we should order something from outside, but he refused, saying that he wanted to have food from our canteen itself."
The match will be a great opportunity for Virat Kohli to regain his form and get some confidence ahead of the England Tests. Since the last few days, he has been putting in the hard yards and even worked with Sanjay Bangar in Mumbai as he was seen working on his backfoot game.
