The Indian skipper Virat Kohli showed his respect on Twitter for one of India’s greatest track and field athletes, Captain Milkha Singh who passed away today due to Covid-19. Virat Kohli who is currently on verge of listing his first ICC trophy as a captain for India in the ICC World Test Championship was dishearted to hear the sad news.

Milkha Singh served as an inspiration for many athletes who wanted to chase the dream of winning a medal for India in the Olympics in track and field events. He was the only Indian to the 400 m race in Asian games as well as Commonwealth games and missed the bronze medal by just 0.25 seconds in the Rome Olympics in 1960. The Padma Shri Award holder served in the army too and was famously called the Flying Sikh.

Virat Kohli took it to Twitter to share his disappointment over the news of the great Milkha Singh passing away at the age of 91. He stated that Milkha Singh’s legacy will stay forever and mentioned that he was an inspiration for the whole of the country to keep their dreams alive and working hard. It certainly showed the amount of respect, the Indian skipper had for the Milkha Singh.

Virat Kohli has A Tough Task On Hands

Despite everything that has been going on about Milkha Singh, Virat Kohli will also have to make sure that he makes the inroads in the finals of the ICC World Test Championship. The first day of the finals yesterday was washed out and a reserve day will be used to make up for the number of overs lost.

Virat hasn’t scored an international century in the last one and half years which is way below his original standards and India will need him at his very best.

The Indian skipper has scored plenty of runs in the previous tour in England and he would have the much-needed confidence under him too.
