R Sridhar, a former fielding coach for India, asserted that Virat Kohli only improved as a slip fielder via effort. He also spoke candidly about the star batter’s intensity in practice.

One of the best fielders in all of cricket, Kohli has been regarded as such since the beginning of his international career. The 33-year-old has consistently displayed high levels of fitness throughout his career, and he continues to set the bar for the rest of his teammates in that area.

Sridhar asserted that Kohli improved as an Indian slip fielder through practice when speaking to Cricket.com, as reported by Hindustan Times. The star batter was too energizing, according to the former India coach, hence he was not initially successful in that role.

“Virat Kohli has improved solely through practice to become one of India’s top slip fielders. At first, he was not a very good slip fielder because he was too energized; Kohli is a bundle of enthusiasm. Not that he lacks energy right now.

“He is still very much there, but he can recognize when to be calm and he has better control of his energy. But I will tell you, it is just practice” said Sridhar.

Sridhar continued by mentioning Kohli’s workout intensity and claimed that the former India skipper rarely became exhausted by the sessions. The star batter is a model for every young player to follow when it comes to fielding, according to the former coach.

“When I was worn out during our sessions, I would end them by telling him, “Virat, that is enough.” However, he would enquire, “Are you tired? More catches are desired. And I just keep on going, giving him 100 different catches.”

“Additionally, it is not just one day. all series. He occasionally has sessions with more than 100 catches. And he does it with such astonishing energy. The sight of Virat Kohli practicing is one I will remember forever.”

Kohli only took part in one assignment for India after playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the trip to England, which ended on a dismal note. The star batter recorded the highest score of 20 throughout 6 innings. Now, Kohli will participate in the Asia Cup 2022, which begins on August 27 in the UAE.
