KL Rahul has waxed lyrical over India captain Virat Kohli after playing under him for a few years now across formats.

The Delhi-born has influenced Indian cricket significantly, not just as a batsman but as a captain. Under Kohli, India have heralded an unprecedented cartel of pace bowlers and have arguably the best fast-bowling attack in the world.

Kohli became the first Asian captain ever to register a Test series victory in Australia on the 2018/19 tour; a couple of years later the team built by Kohli did it again, this time in his absence under Ajinkya Rahane.

India also have been topped the Test rankings for a long time under Kohli, before only recently being displaced by New Zealand. KL Rahul says that Kohli is a “different sort of captain” who not only himself gives more than his 100 percent, but also inspires his teammates to extend their potential.

“Playing with and under Virat Kohli, he is a different sort of captain. He is a very passionate individual. He operates at 200. 100 is the best you possibly can be at, but he operates at 200. He has the unbelievable ability to carry the other 10 guys and pull them from 100 to 200,” KL Rahul told Forbes.

Any of us would take a bullet for MS Dhoni: KL Rahul

But, if there is any skipper for whom not only KL Rahul, but other players as well, would be ready to ” take a bullet” is none other than MS Dhoni, under whom KL Rahul made his international debut.

The stylish batsman says that the former captain has the respect of his teammate having done “amazing things for the country” during his tenure. The Ranchi-born still remains the only skipper to win all three ICC white-ball trophies.

“The minute anybody says captain, the first name that comes to mind from our era will be MS Dhoni. We have all played under him. Yes, he has won a lot of tournaments, done amazing things for the country but I think the biggest achievement that as captain you can have is the respect of your teammates and any of us would take a bullet for him without a second thought,” KL Rahul stated.
